Rated 3 out of 5 by from 2 years I bought this 2 years ago. Lately it has not been regulating the temperature to normal 78 degrees. I have a thermometer and it showed almost 90 one day. So i put it on a timer to go on and off throughout the day. Now its completely dead. I cleaned it. Had some hard crust on the bulb. Are these bulbs replaceable? Or do i have to buy a whole new setup?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HORRIBLE! DO NOT BUY! I bought this product TODAY and it sucks. Do not waste your money on this product. I plugged it in and the red light showed for about 45 seconds before cutting off. I tried multiple outlets and get the same results. I stuck my hand in my turtle tank and the water is freezing cold. I had to move my tank to the other side of my room hoping it was warmer there. I will now have to leave my heat lamp on all night. One of my turtles won't even stay in the water because it is so cold. I do not recommend this to anyone!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Heater is not what I thought I bought I just bought this a day ago I'm not too pleased with it. I have a 20 gal tank with 7gallons of water in it, its keeping a constant temp at 74-75 . My room temp is 72.I can't see this heater heating 30gal at a constant 78 degrees. I put heater next to water filter I have a turtle so the top has a cover but with holes for the basking lights. The package doesn't mention any of the extra steps to warn people so the heater can work. To me its misleading because I thought I could of just placed it in 30 gal of water and everything would of been fine. I learned my lesson next time I will read reviews before buying. Anyone reading this its my experience, waste that extra money for that top of the line heater.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does not last long. This product is great for my turtle tank. I like the protective cover and the preset temperature. I have them replaced through the excellent customer service team as I am lucky if I get a year out of one. I have not found a similar product from a different brand to compare. I wish the market had more options like this.

Ive had it plugged in for over 24 hours and the water is still cold. Im annoyed im going to return it and order a completely different brand online.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Needs better power signal. Mine had a red light on the first day or so, but now it only stays on about a minute. I have tried multiple outlets. It is not heating my tank and now I have to keep my heat lamp on 24/7 until I can get to the store to get a new one that is better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best heater for my young stinkpots This heater works great at perfect temp. Safe and solid design. Heats my 20 gallon tank perfect. Red light comes on to show its heating the water and keeps my tank at consistent 78 degrees. Tetra products are the best on market!Dont mind the bad reviews. Its probably thier competition. This 100 watt heater is #1.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works good so far I keep my tank halfway in window view because my turtle loves to get on his basking dock and look out my window, problem is of course being near window especially during the winter its gets colder than anywhere else in the house, so i bought this heater just to be safe and keep him warm. It regulates the temp just as noted between 74-78 degrees, and has worked great so far

Hey I purchased this item from petco today and I put it in my turtle tank but the red light doesn't come on is there something I did wrong

Asked by: Ciara
Probably not. The heater could be turned in the case so that the casing blocks the red light and you cannot see it. Make sure you are using a quality aquarium thermometer to gauge the water temperature and watch it to see if the temp rises. If you have any issues with the heater, just call our Care Team at 1-800-526-0650. BREX

Does this heater go bad or does it have a shelf life on how long it last before it needs to be replaced?

Asked by: Stan2143
There is no shelf life, per se. We do recommend checking the heater and the water temperature daily to ensure it is heating properly and is well maintained. Typically, a heater should last a few years. BREX

what does it mean when the red light on the aquatic reptile heater has stopped turning on?

Asked by: darrell
This generally means your temperature is within the proper range. Make sure you are using a thermometer in conjunction with the heater. BREX

Is the red light that is on the heater supposed to stay on? If it cuts off Is it broken or has it reached its temperature.

Asked by: Kayla123
No. It should come on and off. When the temperature is where it should be, it will go away. Use an aquarium thermometer to gauge the temperature of the water and ensure it is being heated correctly. BREX

I've had this product plugged in now for 5-7 days. We don't feel it being warm at all? Is that normal? Our tank stays at around 77-80 degrees Fahrenheit, but the actual heater doesn't feel like it's putting off any heat.

Asked by: BrookeWestphall
If your tank is staying around 77-80 degrees, the heater is only coming on for a short period of time when the water temp starts to drop below this. You would not feel any heat coming from the heater, as the water disperses the heat. Sounds like it is working perfectly! BREX

hi where is the light indicator on the tetrafauna Aquatic Retile Heater. and how long should it take to heat the water?

Asked by: littleone
It is on the front of the heater, but may be hidden by the cage. The cord is coming out the back of the heater. That depends on how many gallons of water you have, and what the current temperature is in the tank. Give it 24-48 hours to regulate correctly and make sure you are using a good quality thermometer to take the temperature. BREX

The water seems cold. How would I know that the heater is working. And can the cord be I. Water?

Asked by: Timo
Hi Timo! Most aquarium water feels cold to the touch because our body temperature is higher than what most fish need. You should get an aquarium thermometer to make sure the tank is reaching the temperature you want. This heater should be fully submersed which often includes part of the chord. We hope this helps!

How would you clean the tetrafauna heater

Asked by: Chris1964
Hi Chris1964! You can open the cage and remove the heater. Make sure before you take the heater out of the tank, you unplug it, and let it cool down for a few minutes. Use a soft cloth, hot water and white vinegar to gently remove algae, hard water deposits, etc. Rinse it well. BREX
