Rated 1 out of 5 by from DISGUSTING!!!! I bought this piece of JUNK about a month ago. My poor turtles were living in NASTY water the whole time!!! Insects were laying eggs in the filter without me knowing!!! I am absolutely outraged. I paid $60 for this thing thinking it would make my turtles happy, BUT NO!!!! I will never buy anything from this company ever again!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Chemical odor! Interesting there is another review in regard to chemical odor. I called cust service and the gentleman asked what I had done to cause the odor?! He also said cust must pay return shipping. I have used Tetrafauna products for many years, but after ordering a second filter, paying overnight shipping cost, turns out smells just as bad as the first which contaminated the entire tank. I'm done!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy turtles pump is working. I thought our two year old pump was broken because it would intermittently vibrate, but wouldn't pump. I am thankful I called Tetrafauna and found out I could take the pump apart to clean it. It's working well again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not sure how to rate just yet. I just bought it because it looked awesome and my turtles can easily climb to bask. The water level is just below the max line. Unfortunately within 24 hrs. the water was very cloudy. I did rinse it well before installing in the tank due to the smell of chemical. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product fits 40 gal tank We bought our rock filter filter 3 years ago,our 3 turtles love it. With 3 turtles we have to clean filter every 2 weeks. First we thought rocks to steep so we built a ramp, then we found turtles climbing up the steepest side no problem and took ramp out. Filter does keep water clean, we rinse out filters every 2 weeks and only replace every 2 months, keep cost down. If we every get another tank we will get another rock filter.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 2 Broken within a couple of months Bought two of these and within a couple of months both make loud grinding noises coming from the pump. They still function but are terribly loud. I've tried adjusting the metal rod that the prop fits onto but no luck. Don't buy this product if you are working with sand base. That is the only thing I can figure would do this unless it happens to all of them .

I bought the decorative reptofilter in September, to replace another one that I’d had for a year but was no longer working. Now this pump has also stopped working. Is it under warranty? If not, can i buy a replacement pump rather than buying a whole new

Asked by: Julie B
They are both under warranty, but most likely they just need cleaning. I will email some instructions to you so let me know if cleaning does not work. BREX

I have been having problems keeping the water for my turtles clean. I want to get the aquatic turtle kit but I worry that the filter may not be enough. Should I go ahead and get two filters or is that necessary?

This is not a quick and easy question so I'll email you directly. BREX

How much do replacement pumps for repot filter cost?

Asked by: Jabs
You probably don't need one unless you lost it. Just remove the cover by pressing in on the bottom of it and pulling towards the front, simultaneously. Then take the impeller out to clean it and swab out the inside of the pump with a q tip. If you do need a pump, buy the SP 75 or 140. Also, keep all o rings, elbows and tubes as those are not available separately. BREX

the water in my tank is very cloudy and i change the filters every week. Do you think that I need to replace the whole reptofilter or do you have any other sugestions?

Asked by: Jeff31
If this is a turtle tank you should be changing half of the water every week as well since they produce tremendous amounts of waste. Make sure he/she has at least 10 gallons of water for every inch of shell diameter. So a 5" turtle requires 50 gallons of water for example. 5" and larger should have a canister filter as well. However, you can add additional media to your reptofilter too such as filter floss, bio balls, etc. as there is enough space to customize it to suit your needs. BREX P.S. I also find that keeping the tank bare bottom helps a lot. My turtles have no gravel, only large driftwood and natural rock to crawl over and under.

Hello. Can replacement pumps be purchased? I work with disabled adults and one of them has a water turtle, a mud turtle to be accurate. He purchased this waterfall pump and filter. I believe that there is a short in the cord.

Asked by: grnelson
The SP 75 in our pond line is a replacement pump for this item. However, it does not come with the o ring, tubing, etc., that this pump uses to connect to the river bed, so keep that in mind. Also, the pump your patient has comes with a 2-year warranty so we'd be happy to replace it for them if there is a short. Just call 1-800-526-0650. BREX

Is there a replacement pump for the Decorative Reptile Retrofilter

Asked by: hbho51
The SP75 and SP140 in our pond line work, but they do not come with the adapter, tubing, o ring, etc. If the pump is not working, simply open it and take out the impeller for cleaning. If you need instructions on how to do this, please email techsupport.tetra-fish@spectrumbrands.com. BREX

I have the Turtle waterfall filter , I really like it and the turtles love it, I had no trouble finding replacement pumps, but unable to find replacement vinyl hose that fit the pump and the nozzle that the water flows through

Asked by: Phyllis 43
Those pieces aren't actually sold separately, in part because the pump rarely quits working. If it stops, you just open it and clean it out. We have the pieces you are describing to send out upon request so call 1-800-526-0650. BREX

Hello.I called both numbers listed and no answer.I noticed a noise coming from it. I moved the elbow piece and it stopped making that sound for 1 day.Now it is has started again. I have tried several things nothing works

Asked by: Cowmicky
Hi Cowmicky. The only part capable of making noise is the impeller. You need to clean the impeller and the housing it sits in. We are happy to walk you through this or you can download the instructions from our website. Our phone number is: 1-800-526-0650.
