ReptoFilter® disposable filter cartridges use dense, dual-sided mesh to catch debris and waste while the Ultra-activated carbon absorbs odors and discoloration.

Medium cartridges fit the ReptoFilter 90GPH, Viquarium, and the Decorative ReptoFilter.

Large cartridges fit the ReptoFilter 125GPH.

How often do I need to change the cartridges, bought the tetra fauna reptofilter kit for up to 55 gallon, has 2 cartridges,in August sometime.

That depends on the livestock you have in the tank, but typically every 2-4 weeks. They will clog within a couple of weeks normally, with turtles for example. BREX

Where do I purchase medium filter cartridges? Why do they come in packs of 3 when my Decorative ReptoFilter uses two filters at once?

Asked by: chal1016
Thank you for your support of Tetra products! This filter cartridge comes in a single pack or 3 pack assembled and 8 or 12 packs unassembled, which are cost saving. They are sold through most any local fish or pet store, large chain pet stores, as well as the majority of pet online retailers. To locate a store in your area carrying Tetra products, scroll down to click on the Buying Options tab then enter your zip or postal code in the dealer locator. BREX

When should I change the filter cartridge ? I barely put a new one in like 3 days ago and it already looks brown and dirty, is this normal? And how long can one be used before I should throw it out and put in a new cartridge?

Asked by: Michelle11042
Thank you for contacting us. Generally, depending on the stock in the tank, and how often you are doing your partial water changes, you change the cartridge every 3-4 weeks. If you have a large turtle, however, it may be more frequent than that. You do not need to change it before that amount of time, unless it gets so clogged, the filter backflows. Keep in mind, turtles need 10 gallons of water for every inch of shell diameter, and a weekly partial water change of at least 50%. They do produce a lot of waste. A lot of people place them in another container for feeding to help keep the water cleaner. BREX

I have two turtles in my tank and I wanted to know when am I supposed to change the filter?

Asked by: Tupac
Turtles are pretty messy, and with two of them, you may need to change or at least rinse, the cartridge, once a week. Basically, as long as the filter has good flow, you can use it for up to 4 weeks, but if it is getting so clogged, the flow rate is slowing down or the water is backing up and going out the back of the filter, you want to change the filter cartridge. i recently purchased a reptofilter & pump for my frog tank. I see bubble/white like foam from in at the base of the pump. Im concerned will this effect my frog and what can i do to stop this foaming reaction? everything was rinsed prior to placing

Asked by: silvie
The foaming is a sign that your water either has too much organic matter in it (if the tank was already established prior to adding the new filter system) or too many phosphates in it. It can also occur if you overdose a water conditioner. Depending on the cause, it may dissipate in a day or two or you may need to do a partial water change of 10-20% to remove the excess organic matter. BREX
