ReptoFilter® is rated 1.1 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Disappointing I was able to "use" this less than a week. It seems to be very finicky and will work and then won't. It is very frustrating to keep having to take it in and out trying to get it to work!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible. I would not recommend this at all. Very poor filter. No power and impossible to clean. Comes with no instructions on how to take it apart to clean. Found replacing filters for this thing was once a week. Says up to 20 gallons. My open 5 gallons. Supposed to made for turtles? not.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible product I bought this product on June 1st and have had to replace it 3 times due to having it completely stop working. I read the other reviews on here and there are several stating the same issue. I see that the company has responded to remove the bottom portion and clean, but the manual makes no reference of this nor how to even remove the bottom portion. It's a cheaply made product and I will be asking for a full refund this time vs an exchange. I'm angry that I've had to go to the pet store this many times due to a bad product. Do not waste your time or money on this!!!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Quality I brought a reptile tank for my two turtles and I though that this pump would work. Well, I was sadly mistaken, I only had my turtles for a week and I had to replace the water due to the quality of the pump. It just isn't a good quality product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Really sad I bought this hoping to help filter my water portion of my half land/half water terrarium. The water is only about a gallon and a half. Unfortunately after having this product for 3 months and changing the filter 3 times it still hardly works, doesn't out put flow and tonight it completely stopped pumping water. I've even attempted to pull the pump in half and clean the bottum portion. Really upset as to now I have a very messy craw fish dirtying the water and my poor tetra is having issues breathing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good product This filter does not work consistently. The water will stop filtering and u have to keep plugging it an unplugging before it starts filtering again. It only picks up particles in the immediate area of the filter. Very disappointed

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would no recommend this product I bought this product thinking it would clean my turtle tank. The problem is that the as the filter tries to pull particles into the base the water flows downward and pushes the particles away from the filter. And, it only works in the immediate area of the the filter. It does not draw the dirt from the entire tank. I think the water should somehow flow away from the tank to get the water flowing better.

Just bought this a couple weeks back and it already stopped working. I took it apart and the motor wasn't even dirty. Is there a replacement pump?

Asked by: celly
The motor may look okay on the outside, but be sure to remove the impeller from the motor as this may have hair or other debris clogging it. We do have replacement impellers, but not motors, no. If you need more help, call 1-800-526-0650. BREX

I am nervous about leaving the filter on while I am away. The cord reaches from the bottom of the filter, and it is in the water. Is this correct? Having cords in the water?

Asked by: Emilyanna
Yes, this is correct. This unit is UL approved for placing the motor in the water. BREX

Hello, I was wondering if 5 goldfish were too many to have in a Tetra Floating Starter Kit tank? I just changed the water on Sunday and here it is Thursday evening and the water smells terribly. UGH please help.

Asked by: Genny
Hi Genny! As a rule of thumb gold fish need 3 gallons of water for every inch of body length. Assuming each fish is at least an inch long you would need 9 gallons of water so at least a 10 gallon aquarium. You will definitely need to upgrade to keep your current fish safe and may want to get a much bigger tank to accommodate them as they grow. For more help, give us a call at 1-800-526-0650.

Is there supposed to be water in all 3 compartments of the unit? I am having an issue keeping water in the center portion? We bought it new about 3 weeks ago and it worked great for about a week. Now the water is dirty and it's loud. I'm not pleased!

Asked by: Lhotsedog
Hi Lhotsedog! This filter should only have on chamber. If the flow is slowing down try removing the pump and cleaning the impeller. We're happy to walk you through this over the phone. Just give us a call at 1-800-526-0650.

I have a Tetra Floating Starter Kit and I was wondering where I could buy new filters. My daughter bought the tank in Walmart but I can't seem to find the proper filters for the tank. Can I buy them online? I have checked your website but don't see them .

Asked by: Genny
That kit takes the small size Whisper Bio Bag. Those are sold in Walmart, Petsmart, Petco, and online. We have them on our site as well: BREX

Why does the filter go out and it wont turn this filter is the worst should come with instructions or some thing

Asked by: Nevaeh2007
Our filters do come with instructions, so I apologize if yours were missing. Typically, when a filter stops operating, it needs maintenance. All filters require being taken apart and cleaned periodically. How often, depends on the tank size, stock, etc. We have more than one model of this filter, and there are two different ways of opening it, depending on the model you own. I will email you some instructions. BREX

Bought a new 20 gal Aquar for my turtle. Filter was working well.I cleaned the filter and inserted a new Bio Bag as per the instr. on the box, plus (as per adv from a S Assit) to put in API TURTLE Sludge destroyer in. Today water cloudy & smelly. Why?

Asked by: Bakgat
If you have not vacuumed the bottom of the tank and done a partial water change on a regular basis, the Sludge Destroyer is trying to remove all that garbage at the bottom of the tank. Ideally, turtles should have a minimum of 10 gallons of actual water per inch of shell diameter, a weekly partial water change of 25-50% and once they reach 5" in size, a large canister filter system.
