Bio-Active Pressure Filters provide mechanical and biological filtration to help maintain clear and healthy pond water. Its unique open profile bio-activators provide large surface area and unrestriced water flow to all surfaces for improved cleaning. It is designed with an easy, backflush valve for fast cleaning. This filter also integrates an Ultra-Violet Clarifier that provides permanent control of suspended algae which cause green water. Includes a 2 year limited warranty (excludes bulbs). 9 foot power cord.

Mechanical Filtration
Pond water flows down through the bio-activators which remove suspended debris and dirt from the water.

UV Clarifier
Each Bio-Active Clarifier comes complete with a UV Clarifier Bulb. The UV clarifier works by exposing single-celled algae to very high levels of Ultra Violet light as the pond water containing them is pumped through the clarifier. The water containing single-celled algae comes in close contact with the light from the UV bulb that is protected from the water by a quartz glass sleeve. The Ultra Violet radiation disrupts the algae’s ability to reproduce. The algae die and clump together; at which point they are easily removed by the bio-activators inside the pressure filter.

Biological Filtration
Biological Filtration occurs on the massive surface areas found in the bio-activators. Beneficial bacteria will naturally colonize on the surface area and convert harmful pollutants in the water into relatively harmless nitrates, which are absorbed by the aquatic plants and removed by partial water changes. This is known as the “Nitrogen Cycle”.

Bio-Active Pressure Filters come equipped with bio-activators which offer superior filtration and back flush performance over foam. In normal filtration operation, these bio-activators easily trap dirt and debris from your pond and because of their shape they provide a large active surface area for the beneficial bacteria to colonize for upgraded biological filtration. During the back flush operation, bio-activators provide unrestricted water flow to all the surfaces so that dirt and debris are thoroughly removed while leaving the beneficial bacteria on the bio-activator surfaces intact and robust.

This product comes in the following sizes:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tetrapond 4500 bio pressure filter w/ 1900gpm pump Best set-up running problem free for years. Very easy to get parts. Keeps my heavily stocked 2000 gallon koi pond clear year round. I also use a tetra pond 2500 inline UV sterlizer. Replace bulb every second year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They stand by their warranty After a year of great performance, my pond began to green. I figured it was time to replace the UV bulb - normal use is 1 year - but when I opened it up, I found that the power block was cracked. I called customer care to buy a replacement. Instead, they looked me up by my address, told me the filter was still under warranty, and shipped me a new one at zero charge. I didn't need to find my receipt or anything - I just needed to ship the old filter head back to them. That's the kind of customer service that causes me to recommend TetraPond to my friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality After reading reviews on this product I purchased the Pressure BP 1500 model with UV late April of 2016. I was really fed up with prior sponge filters and the work cleaning them. Two things I noted right away. One, the filter was really heavy duty plastic and solidly built. No flimsy parts. Two, the step by step instructions were clear and easy to follow. The instructions also had a help number to call if needed. It's early days yet but I am starting to see improvement in my pond water. Tetra has a good reputation and product quality is important.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I bought the BP 2500 UV two years ago and have found it to be an excellent filter, but what I find even better is Tetra's customer service! The housing for my filter split the winter and I contacted the company to see if I could purchase a new housing rather than buying a whole new unit. Linda at Tetra Pond was most accommodating! I am so pleased. I have used Tetra products for ever, starting with aquarium products when I was a kid and now in my pond. Love this company and their products. Love that they stand behind their products and look out for their customers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutley the best filter I've ever owned I purchased a BP1500UV filter with the 3500 pump in August of 2010. This is the 2nd season that it is in service. Prior to this system I had a foam filter sytem and I had to change filters everyday. I almost gave up on my pond because the work, but then I discovered the Tetra filter system that does'nt need filters. My pond water is always crystal clear without ever the use of chemicals. All that is required is backflushing once or twice a week, and this takes about 5 minutes with no mess at all. This is a great filter and I highly reccomend it. I also use the 3500 gal. pump which was reccomended and the water flow is excellent.I also sold my friend on this system and he is very satisfied with his.

Is there an external indicator to let me know the UV bulb is still working?

Asked by: DonD1
Yes, there is an oval shaped window that lights up. You will need to check it in the dark though, in order to be able to see the light. BREX

Currently I have a 2500 gal pond (3 ponds linked by waterfalls) and an Atlantic 4600 skimmer, which uv/bio filter do u recommend to place in the water return between skimmer and 1st waterfall?

Asked by: Birdsnest70
Well, you could go with the 2500 model but that is going to be maxed out. If you do not have fish, this will be fine. If you do have fish, we'd recommend the 4000 to ensure you have plenty of filtration. BREX

Just bought your pond filter BP2500-UV.The Back Flush Valve does not fully close. When I remove the back flush cap to attach the tubing, a lot of water is gushing out while the valve is in pond position. Pretty messy. Please help.

Asked by: Peter Pottschulte
The backflush port will always have water exiting it when there is no cap in place. It is ideal to place the tubing on it, with a ball valve in place instead, if you do not wish to turn the pump off first. BREX

do you need anything else fir this to run or can I just use this to keep my pond clean?

Asked by: Rachel m
Hi Rachel! You'll need a pump to push the water through the filter. Which pump you pick will depend on the size of the filter. I recommend downloading the product instructions and reading them thoroughly.

Seems there is a design defect in the clear lamp cover housing allowing water into quartz sleeve. GFI tripped. After one year plastic becomes brittle. If not covered by warrantee this part needs to be listed on amazon.

Asked by: sheepdoll
Hi sheepdoll, We have had no reports of the plastic becoming brittle so perhaps the conditions in your area played a part in this issue. (salt air, etc.) In any case, the filter system has a two year warranty on it. Please contact us via 1-800-526-0650. BREX

Do you offer some sort of handle extension to assist turning the back flush valve? I could use a large wrench but a sturdy plastic extension of some sort that I can leave out by the filter would be handy. It's a tough maneuver with arthritis.

Asked by: Pampam
We can see why that would help, Pampam. Unfortunately there is no such extension available. We appreciate the idea though! If there's anything else we can do to help, let us know at 1-800-526-0650.

I have a bp 1500-uv and the plastic to hold screws cracked. Can that be replaced? i did find an old bp2500-uv online. i know the bulbs are different but if i can't get a housing can i use the housing and bulb on bp1500. Will it harm it?

Asked by: esko
I'm not sure what you are saying broke, but the housing and bulb from a 1500 will be too long for a 2500. BREX
