Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are super little pumps! I have two of these pumps purchased recently, one for a 20-gallon with two undergravel filters and an airstone, the other for a 5-gallon hex with an undergravel filter and possibly more aeration at a later time when I add fish. They pump all the air that I need with air to spare. I hear of people having problems with noise or early failure, but I believe the important thing is to make sure to have a relief valve to bleed off excess air and make sure your pump is ample size for your needs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from work well for a while Worked great for the first 8-9 months but then the rubber cups cracked and no longer works. Repair parts cost over half as much as pump and by the time you pay shipping it ends up costing you more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most Quiet Pumps I Own I have 7 aquariuums ranging in size from 75 gal down to 3 gal. All the tanks have aeration. I have 1 Whisper 100 on my 75 gl. fancy goldfish tank. I run 2 big sponge filters and a 36" bubbler line off it. It has been in use for 2 years now and it is still as quiet as the day I bought it. Prior to buying the Whisper I was having to replace or repair air pumps about every six months because of the noise. I use a Whisper 60 for my two 20 gal. Both 20 gl. have sponge filters, plus HOB. Again these are very quiet. Both the 75 and the 2 -20gl tanks are in the family room. It is nice to be able to hear the TV without having to increase the volume to cover the sound of the air pumps.Having used a variety of other pumps over the years I am now going to stick with Tetra Whisper. They are quiet and I have yet to replace any parts.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Way too loud. Whisper 100. Bought this to replace a 1987 Whisper 1000 that was starting to go out, knob getting a little cranky. The new 100 is way too loud, not sure how some of the reviews elsewhere raved about it being quiet. Wonder if it's just a defect. Unfortunately used it 2 weeks, went back to my old one, and forgot about it. Now it's out of warranty. Wonder if Tetra can work on the old one ?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fails quickly, no replacement parts available... When you first purchace the product it works fantastic. But within a few months the rubber cups crack and fail and your poor fish run out of air. I have gone through 4 of the 60 and 30-60 Whisper pumps in the last two years. In that time I have been unable to find any replacement or repair parts from any dealer. So I have a pile of good pumps that just need new parts. Pump number 4 died this week, and I must admit this one lasted almost 8 months. Even here the replacement parts page is EMPTY. This is like having to buy a new car every time it needs new tires. I am off to PetSmart tonight to find what products they carry and pre-buy the replacement parts for them. If no parts, I will look someplace else. FYI: I replace my airstones the first of every month... Can not blame back pressure on that. If you have replacement parts available, I would recomend your pumps, but there seems to be none.

The motor sounds on but no air coming out of tube What can I do?

Asked by: pattyhof
It would help to know more about your set up. Make sure you have cut off any excess tubing, and have installed a check valve properly. Also, it can take a few hours for air to be coming out of an air stone strongly. It will gradually build over time. BREX

What does  non ul mean

Asked by: Lindaanne
We make two versions of this line of pumps - UL Approved, and Non-UL Approved. Products that are UL-approved carry the "UL Listed" mark and have passed government-regulated safety tests performed by Underwriters Laboratories. The mark is most often seen on electrical equipment to show that it meets the required safety standards. A non-UL unit will not have this mark, and doesn't require it. In regards to these air pumps, non-UL versions are generally sold to be used as part of another product, such as in beer making, etc. Some states require a product sold there to have the UL mark, some states do not. What is the air volume output of your pumps

Specifically, why haven't you listed the air output for each model on the package or on a spec's list here on the web. Every accessory I look at states it's air requirement in CC's or liters. These specs are nowhere to be found.
Asked by: Showers
Good morning, Thank you for your inquriy. However, we do not rate our air pumps for PSI values, as this is not the manufactured intention of the unit. Therefore, the only thing we have listed is the liter per minute ratings that you have found listed on our website. Thank you, MINI
