Rated 2 out of 5 by from All for a rubber o-ring I have a 55 gallon tank so i put 2 whisper 60's on it, one of my units is leaking from the o-ring. I'm trying to find a replacement ring. No luck. It would suck to have to buy a whole new unit because of a 5 cent rubber o-ring.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Noisy Filter I just got a brand new 10-Gallon Tetra Aquarium and the Whisper PF10 filter was included in the kit. I am so disappointed as it makes a terrible droning sound. It is brand new and there is no reason why it should be making this sound. I've tried everything to fix this and it is still so noisy. Part of the reason why I went with this kit is because the filter was called "Whisper" and so I assumed it was quiet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Extremely loud and inefficient. This filter came with my 20 gallon tank. It worked well for the first month or so, but now it is extremely loud. Here's a video for proof

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The flow changed, and i can't slow it down. We really like our new 10 gallon glo fish tank, but two day after setting it up the pump started pumping so much water that it isn't getting filtered. The water is overflowing out the side where the pump tube comes up. There is no attachment not on this pump so I'm not sure what to do?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HORRIBLE! I bought this product about a year ago, and have had problems since. My 10 gallon tank IS NOT overstocked, and the water turns cloudy all the time! I have another 10 gallon where the same exact filter works fine, with more baby fish! Go figure!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful The filter doesn't even have all the pieces! Very awful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works extremely well I used to own this power filter in the past for my 10 gallon aquarium the price was very reasonable where I had purchased it which was at my local Walmart. It was quiet simple straightforward and did exactly as it was designed to do. Overall to me it's a classic and I highly recommend it.

My filter quit working there for a couple hours why

Asked by: Vickeyd
Thank you for writing us. Typically, when a filter stops operating it has usually pulled something into it that is trapped around the impeller or perhaps there is a clog. In any case, always unplug it and remove it from the tank so you can take it completely apart and clean it out. You will definitely want to remove the impeller and clean it as well as the motor area for sure. Also, always keep the water level in the tank within an inch or two of the top. BREX

Does this filter have flow adjuster?

Asked by: Mima
No, Mima, it doesn't. Our Whisper IQ filter systems do have a flow adjustment though. BREX

How do I lower the flow

Asked by: Swag17
The Whisper PF10 has no flow control. The others within the line have a knob on top of the intake tube which you would turn so the point of the "arrow" faces your wall. They were tested on each tank size with healthy fish to ensure the filter performance is appropriate for the tank rating. There should be no need to slow flow down except at feeding time of if the fish are sick. BREX

Just getting started, have not bought any fish yet but thinking 1 betta or 2 platys or 6 tetras start. What is the minimum AND maximum size tank I should use with PF20?

Asked by: JenM
The PF 20 is best suited for tanks between 10 and 20 gallons. Whatever you pick, start with one fish around an inch or so in size, and wait a week or two before adding the next fish and so forth. Do not add several fish at once as this is setting the tank up for issues such as ammonia spikes. BREX

I have the whisper PF10 filter in a ten gallon tank with a lone betta fish. I'm wondering if it's creating a current that's too strong for him. I can see debris at the top of the tank moving at a fairly rapid speed. Is there a better filter to use?

Asked by: Natdok
If the water is moving rapidly enough to pull matter into the filter, you shouldn't see a lot of debris on the surface so your question isn't quite clear to us. The current is not going to be too strong for him unless he is ill or stressed. We would recommend the Whisper IQ 10 which has a flow control on it if you are concerned about the flow rate for your betta. BREX

I have a Whisper PF10. It has a crack at the side of the overflow where filtered water returns to the tank, right at the top of the chute. I get a slow drip outside the tank from this crack. What can I use to repair it? Aquarium sealant did not work.

Is there a way to clean the entire water intake tube on a PF 20 whisper filter?  I'm getting a lot of algae buildup above the impeller, almost to the point where it looks to be impeding water flow.

Asked by: cycfan
You can run a very strong stream of water through it from first one end then the other, initially, to loosen it up. Then we would recommend using one of the flexible wire aquarium brushes sold through local fish stores. The other option is to rinse it out as described above then soak it in white vinegar for about 10 minutes and rinse again. BREX

I use nothing but tetra products aquarium. My grandchildren just purchased a whisper air pump 30-60 as a birthday present for me. I am not satisfied with it. It hums louder than my cheap old air pump . What can we do. Installed to your directions.

Asked by: Noel Busck
Installation and sizing are critical in providing quiet performance. This pump is rated to operate really large applications in tanks from 30-60 gallons so if you have a single small air stone, for example, you will get a lot of back pressure. It requires something like a large bubble wand. Also, you have to use both ports, not just one or the other or it will be very noisy. We recommend you email our support team regarding how this pump is installed, and try some troubleshooting tips first. Beyond that, you would ship the pump back, along with your receipt and information to Tetra 3001 Commerce Street Blacksburg, VA 24060 Attn. BREX BREX
