Thank you, Mary of New Jersey, for sharing this Fish Tale with us:
Imagine our surprise this past spring, while opening and cleaning our fish pond, when we saw four baby fish only about one inch or so long
swimming around. Where these four eggs hatched the year before and stayed undetected, we have no idea. As you may know, Koi will not hurt
their young after they hatch, but in egg form, look out! We have Koi, Goldfish and Comets which are about fifteen inches or so, and these
4 young Koi which have grown to about five to seven inches in length. They all live and play together in our pond. Many years ago we had
three ponds and we would separate the eggs when they were laid and put them into the small pond until they hatched and grew. Later,
we would introduce them to the larger ponds with the larger fish. Having fish in a pond is not unlike having any other pets. Our fish
know the sound of our voices and footsteps and are immediately at the top of the pond looking for treats (and attention)!
