This is my Betta now in his new home. I moved him from a 1 gallon bowl to a 1.5 gallon filter tank. He loves is. I think his health and happiness just did a ten fold. He is so active now.
I'm still not set on what to decorate his tank in. I have two plants in there currently. Was looking for another plant or some decor but I can't find what I want and I'll only buy the silk/cloth plants for him. I won't get the plastic ones. My next addition to his tank will be a heater but I can't find a small enough one like one of the members suggested a 7.5 watt heater. It's a struggle to find one in the stores. Smallest I have found was a 50 watt. Will start cycling his tank very soon. Wish me luck with this as I've never done that before. ![]() |

You might monitor the temp in the 1.5 for a couple days before adding a heater. We never needed a heater on our 2.5 and it stayed fairly constant at 78-81 from just the heat from the light fixture. I've never had a betta thought so I don't know what temp they need.

that is one of the problems with small tanks, adequately heating one. Bettas like to be 78-82.
When I had mine in 5 gal tanks the I used 25 watt visi therm stealths. When I had them in smaller tanks I used 7.5 watt. Eventually mine are in ten gals. It's easier to maintain, cycle, and decorate. mini heater http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...7&pcatid=12087 beautiful betta by the way!

I've seen this heater but I wasn't just sure how it would work in the tank and if it was safe. LOL! I know they are supose to be but I just thougth the submersible "tube-looking" heaters looked best. But thank you. I'll look into this one.

I think you and he would be happier with a 5 gal or ten gal.
and a visi therm stealth heater in the appropriate wattage. Just my opinion tho. ![]()

i do agree with andy, but if you opt to continue with the 1.5 tank, a good heater that i used in a 1 - 1.5 gal Kritter Keeper that i had my AD frogs QT'd in, was a Hydor mini heater. it looks like the one that andy linked to. its probably the same, just a diff brand. but the little heaters only keep the water at about 75 degrees, or at least mine did. i think bettas do better in water warmer than that.
you do have a beautiful fish. i'm going to be looking for a betta soon, but would like to purchase from a breeder instead of a "box store". cant seem to find a local breeder tho.

Thank you. When I bought him no one could figure out why I bought on that with such are dark color but I thought he was pretty. I would have much prefered to find a breeder but I wouldn't know where to look.
I'll look into a larger tank but not sure if there will be a spot for it. He does seem to but much, much happier in the filtered tank though. ![]()
