Bio-Active Pressure Filters provide mechanical and biological filtration to help maintain clear and healthy pond water. Its unique open profile bio-activators provide large surface area and unrestriced water flow to all surfaces for improved cleaning. It is designed with an easy, backflush valve for fast cleaning. This filter also integrates an Ultra-Violet Clarifier that provides permanent control of suspended algae which cause green water. Includes a 2 year limited warranty (excludes bulbs). 9 foot power cord.

Mechanical Filtration
Pond water flows down through the bio-activators which remove suspended debris and dirt from the water.

UV Clarifier
Each Bio-Active Clarifier comes complete with a UV Clarifier Bulb. The UV clarifier works by exposing single-celled algae to very high levels of Ultra Violet light as the pond water containing them is pumped through the clarifier. The water containing single-celled algae comes in close contact with the light from the UV bulb that is protected from the water by a quartz glass sleeve. The Ultra Violet radiation disrupts the algae’s ability to reproduce. The algae die and clump together; at which point they are easily removed by the bio-activators inside the pressure filter.

Biological Filtration
Biological Filtration occurs on the massive surface areas found in the bio-activators. Beneficial bacteria will naturally colonize on the surface area and convert harmful pollutants in the water into relatively harmless nitrates, which are absorbed by the aquatic plants and removed by partial water changes. This is known as the “Nitrogen Cycle”.

Bio-Active Pressure Filters come equipped with bio-activators which offer superior filtration and back flush performance over foam. In normal filtration operation, these bio-activators easily trap dirt and debris from your pond and because of their shape they provide a large active surface area for the beneficial bacteria to colonize for upgraded biological filtration. During the back flush operation, bio-activators provide unrestricted water flow to all the surfaces so that dirt and debris are thoroughly removed while leaving the beneficial bacteria on the bio-activator surfaces intact and robust.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor product support no parts available - EVER Bought this last year - consider it an excellent product as it keep my ponds water perfectly clear all summer. The problem is the company not the product. Used to think Tetra's support was great - parts always available and customer support was excellent. Not anymore - can't get simple parts to keep it running - ORINGS and handles if they break. Tetra - here is a tip. You always order excess parts - 25% to support a product even after EOL as the parts cost VERY little to purchase and stock. Never will spend a penny with Tetra again as I basically have ticking time bomb - filter and debris handling filter that cost several hundreds of dollars that can be put into the trash for a 50 cent o ring. Thanks Tetra.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware - no longer warranty supported First one is still going strong after 3 yearsThe second one bought just a year ago randomly won’t seal draining the pond and Tetra no longer warrants them or makes spare parts like the o-ring kitsFirst support blames the pump (the one their documentation recommends) and only after point that out stated they are end of life and will on pro-rata a refund for what’s left of the warranty.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tank cracked over winter - stored dry This would have been the third season. I hooked it up and turned the pump on. Leaked like crazy. The tank had cracked over the winter. Granted it was stored outside but dry. The kicker - but a brand new one because they don't sell the replacement tank.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tetrapond 4500 bio pressure filter w/ 1900gpm pump Best set-up running problem free for years. Very easy to get parts. Keeps my heavily stocked 2000 gallon koi pond clear year round. I also use a tetra pond 2500 inline UV sterlizer. Replace bulb every second year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They stand by their warranty After a year of great performance, my pond began to green. I figured it was time to replace the UV bulb - normal use is 1 year - but when I opened it up, I found that the power block was cracked. I called customer care to buy a replacement. Instead, they looked me up by my address, told me the filter was still under warranty, and shipped me a new one at zero charge. I didn't need to find my receipt or anything - I just needed to ship the old filter head back to them. That's the kind of customer service that causes me to recommend TetraPond to my friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality After reading reviews on this product I purchased the Pressure BP 1500 model with UV late April of 2016. I was really fed up with prior sponge filters and the work cleaning them. Two things I noted right away. One, the filter was really heavy duty plastic and solidly built. No flimsy parts. Two, the step by step instructions were clear and easy to follow. The instructions also had a help number to call if needed. It's early days yet but I am starting to see improvement in my pond water. Tetra has a good reputation and product quality is important.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I bought the BP 2500 UV two years ago and have found it to be an excellent filter, but what I find even better is Tetra's customer service! The housing for my filter split the winter and I contacted the company to see if I could purchase a new housing rather than buying a whole new unit. Linda at Tetra Pond was most accommodating! I am so pleased. I have used Tetra products for ever, starting with aquarium products when I was a kid and now in my pond. Love this company and their products. Love that they stand behind their products and look out for their customers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutley the best filter I've ever owned I purchased a BP1500UV filter with the 3500 pump in August of 2010. This is the 2nd season that it is in service. Prior to this system I had a foam filter sytem and I had to change filters everyday. I almost gave up on my pond because the work, but then I discovered the Tetra filter system that does'nt need filters. My pond water is always crystal clear without ever the use of chemicals. All that is required is backflushing once or twice a week, and this takes about 5 minutes with no mess at all. This is a great filter and I highly reccomend it. I also use the 3500 gal. pump which was reccomended and the water flow is excellent.I also sold my friend on this system and he is very satisfied with his.

How can I find out which model have I got? The lamp is 18W so I am thinking it will 2500 or 4000. All I see is a sticker with '09 D 30' written on it. I have serious maintenance to do in this unit. Can I get a manual copy please?

Asked by: Giri Hegde
That is the lot code which tells us it is 11 years old. You do have either the 2500 or 4000, and there would be a sticker on the green lid if it has not come off. If it is off, measure the overall height of the filter. The 2500 is around 22", the 4000 filter is close to 26/27 inches. I will email you the instruction manual which is for all of them. BREX

I have a 2" flexible tubing that needs to attached to the inlet of the Tetra Pond Bio Active Pressure Filter.  Can you give me specifications on the inlet end so I can get plumbing parts to make connection to tubing?

Asked by: MeNow
You will need about 2 feet of 1.25" or 1.5" tubing then a PVC reducer to connect this tube to your tubing. BREX

Does above filter replace the PF1200UV, Complete Pond Filter with UV Clarifier, just purchased at my local Home Depot? I misplaced the instruction booklet for my PF1200UV--can you please email me another one or tell me how to find it online? Thank you.

Asked by: PF60
We have never made a PF1200UV filter, so this one would not necessarily replace another manufacturer's filter system. Our UV filters have all been 1500, 2500 and 4000. BREX

We have the tetra filter 2500 series. Is there a bag the little plastic clarifies can go in for easy cleaning. Also how often should those be cleaned

Asked by: Bebe
We do not make a bag for them, no. The jets at the bottom of the center tube needs to be able to move through them to backflush the filter properly so you cannot put them in a bag during use. A thorough cleaning should only be in the fall, as you winterize the filter, or if it becomes so clogged, backflushing will not be enough. At that time, you could certainly purchase a mesh bag of any sort to place them in and use for washing them. Do not place them in anything like a dish washer or washing machine, though. BREX

Since you are no longer making the BP 4000, what is the replacement model? If there isn't one, whom do you recommend we purchase?

Asked by: Gh11701
At this point in time, we do not have a replacement model, but are researching a solution for next year. BREX

I have a Tetra Pond filter.  How do I get the top off.?  I get a lot of debris, acorns, etc and want to check the inside for build up.  I have done the backwash several times but my flow is diminished.

Asked by: Donna V
Hi Donna V, Lift each lift handle, and drop it so it hangs down the side of the canister. Once all of these are off, you would pry up the lid. If there is a lot of built up pressure, gently use something like a butter knife to insert between the lid and the bottom vessel, and loosen to release the pressure. BREX
