Perfect pumps for pond waterfalls, streams and more!

The Tetra Debris-Handling Pump provides clog-free performance for power filters and waterfalls. This energy efficient pump is engineered for continuous operation and can handle debris up to ¼ inch in size—allowing you to clean your pond, not your pump!

How It Works

Tetra Debris-Handling Pumps are engineered to circulate large volumes of pond water without clogging. This allows the pump to operate for long periods of time without any maintenance. Water, dirt, and debris are drawn through the quarter inch holes in the large pre-filter cage that surrounds the pump. The pre-filter cage prevents leaves, sticks, and other large debris from entering the pump. It also protects the fish from the pump’s impeller. The open-face impeller allows debris up to 1/4 in. in diameter to pass through the pump without clogging. The pond water with dirt and debris are pumped to an external filter for removal or directly to a waterfall or stream.

Flow Performance
Determine how high you waterfall will be from the pond surface. The higher the top of the waterfall is from the pond surfaces, the less flow will result. Take a look at the charts below for the approximate waterfall effect the Debris-Handling Pumps will create at various pumping heights.

  • Rugged Debris Handling Pump impeller can pass 1/4 in. debris without clogging
  • Large basket minimizes blockage and maintenance
  • Energy-efficient unidirectional impeller and motor
  • Wear-resistant and anti-corrosive ceramic shaft for longer life
  • Epoxy encapsulation protects motor from water intrusion
  • Outlet size fits tubing 1-1/2 inches or 1-1/4 inches in internal diameter
  • 15 foot electrical cord
  • 120 VAC, 60 Hz

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5 STARS by FAR!! We've run these pumps in our ponds for more than 15 years and we've never had an issue. Very efficient and they run 24 hours/365 days a year with zero complaints! I have a hard time believing there could be a better pump out there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from so far so good I have a leaf problem in my pond, so I replaced my old pump with this one, and so far it has really helped. No more need to pull the pump and clean the debris every few days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great flow rate This is my second debris handling pump and I continue to be satisfied with construction and dependability of these care free pumps. My fish love the flow rate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Workhorse This is my second pump. The first one is 7 years old and still going strong. So easy to use, just hook it up and plug it in. No prefilters to mess with. It's a messy pond with turtles and I've never had it clog up.They cost a little more than some pumps but you'll save even more by not having to buy a new one every couple of years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the DHP This is the 2nd of this type / brand of pump we've owned. The first one lasted 8+ years and kept the pond very happy. We have a 900+ gallon pond with large goldfish that we "rescue" from the bait store. :-)

I purchased the debris handling pump on Amazon and it is on the way. I have second thoughts of installing a pond skimmer. Can the pump be used in a skimmer?

Asked by: JimJ
Sure, it should be able to be used in a skimmer. You would need to set the pump inside the skimmer, and direct the nozzle and tubing you attach to the nozzle back into the pond. It is approximately 14" long, 11" wide, and 9" high. BREX

Is there a date code located on the debris handling pump? I have two in my pond and one is experiencing cut outs that may be due to a thermal switch issue. The newer one was just installed last year. How can I tell which one is still under warranty?

Asked by: JimR
Check your receipts? The pump has a 3 year warranty on it. They do have lot codes, but the receipt is what verifies your warranty. Or invoice, if you ordered them online. The lot code would look like 01A31 BREX

Mine has started running about 3-5 minutes then shut down over and over? What could be the cause?

Asked by: Crystal455
It is either heating up or some type of debris is interfering with it. We would recommend taking it out and thoroughly cleaning it first. If it continues, then it has a thermal switch issue. The pump has a 3 year warranty, please call our Care Team if you are under warranty. 1-800-526-0650. BREX

i have an OX2000 it is an older pump and i can feel that the motor is running but it is not putting out water can you tell me what might be wrong with it and can i fix it or have it fixed

Asked by: Theresa27
It is either clogged or the impeller has broken. Take it apart and clean it well. You would not be able to fix it if the impeller is broken. You would need a new pump. BREX

since I have the 1 inch if I use 1 1/2 or 1 1/4 at least to the ball valve section should that improve the flow since that will be a rise of 2 feet to the valve.

Asked by: 2200 gallon pond
Probably not by much, if any. Can you provide a detailed description of your installation and pond? Email and put it to my attention. BREX
