Making how to get rid of pond algae for good possible! GreenFree UV Clarifiers work to keep your pond clean, clear, and free of green algae. These dependable clarifiers use ultraviolet light to destroy suspended green algae. As algae are pumped into the Clarifier they are exposed to Ultra-Violet light that destroys the reproductive ability of single celled algae. The dead algae is then pumped out of the Clarifier where it clumps and is removed by your pond's filtration system. Tetra UV Clarifiers can typically remove heavy algae blooms within five days and keep your pond algae-free long term. GreenFree UV Clarifiers are easy to conceal, durable, install in minutes, and feature a 3-year limited warranty. Includes 3/4", 1", and 1 1/4" ID tubing adapters UL listed. 15 foot power cord.

Great Product and Great Service
I bought this product because the filter I had with the UV light built in failed on me. The filter still works great its just the light unit no longer works, after only 3 years. I didn't want to get rid of the filter so I purchased the UVC-18 Clarifier. I had only just set it up and realized there was no Purple Light indicating that the bulb was working. I waited till evening to check incase it was a dim display or something. Still no light. The next day I unhooked it checked to make sure it was all put together and the bulb was properly installed, it was. I called the 1-800 help line and got to speak to a Tech. It appears the safety stitch was not turning the light on. The Tech told me how to fix it and it worked. Now it is working great. Hopefully it will only take a few days to get my Pond back to crystal clear status. I enjoy the sturdy construction of this unit. It feels like it will last and no cheap plastic at all. Only time will tell. I have a few other products from Tetra and all are working great. I have a Tetra pump it is still going strong even after 5 years!

Better then expected!
This is my first year having my own pond. And I was so sad and disappointed when the moment the water temp went up to 50degrees it went to solid green soup. All my beautiful goldfish and koi were nowhere to be seen except when they were right at the top to feed. My husband was fed up after a couple weeks and bought the tetra u v clarifier. I am shocked. I knew chances where pretty good that it would clear out most of the algae, but I never expected it to be so clear! It's like glass! I can even see my trapdoor snails clear as day:) And it only took 5 days for it to go from solid green to crystal clear. The timing was perfect too. We had a party this past Saturday and that was the day the water went completely clear. I still can't believe it! Now I really hope it stays like this all summer. I'll be sure to edit this in the fall and again after this winter when we plan to use it inside to winter the fish in a stock tank. I wish I would have took a picture on Monday before we put the uv in on Tuesday. But I have Thursday and Saturdays pictures.

Excellent addition to my pond
This sterilizer worked fantastically right after being installed this summer. I have suffered with thick green pond water for years and after 7 days the water went crystal clear and stayed that way all summer. Excellent product!!!

This UV clarifier did exactly what I wanted it to do.
After fighting algae for 2 1/2 yrs in my 5000 gal pond with 90 deg weather I was about to fill it in and do away with it. I had heard about a UV classifier but never looked in to it very far. I started reading about them and decided to give it one more chance and purchased a UV classifier. I was amazed. After about week or 10 days later it started clearing up and it has been crystal clear ever since and that is going on 5 weeks now. Both the fish and plants are happier now.

I just bought the 18w pond clarifier & I do not see how to remove quartz sleeve for cleaning when needed? Please advice.
Asked by: Jamie 66
It pulls out, basically. You will want to grasp it with something like one of those rubber jar lid removers, and twist/pull to remove it. BREX

Are there any tricks to getting a Tetrapond 5W UV clarifier apart to clean the quartz sleeve? I can't see how it comes out. Thanks. Harry

The quartz sleeve just twists/pulls out. There is no trick, it just takes strength and tenacity. BREX

I have a appropriate 2000-2500 gallon pond. I have a 3600gph pump inside a skimmer. I want to put in one of your UV lights and I'm not sure where to put it and what size to get.
Asked by: BJ4553
The light would go outside the pond. You would run tubing from the pump's outlet to the UV's inlet then from the UV outlet and back to the pond. Considering your flow rate, we'd recommend the UVC-36. BREX

I'm using a dhp3600 going to a bp2500 filter. I am getting about 1200 gph on the outlet to my waterfall on a 500 gallon pond. Can I install the 9watt uv clarifier on this gph output due to the smaller pond size?
Asked by: luckynut
Actually, the UV has to go before the filter or it will create too much pressure for the filter, so we'd recommend a tee or y inserted before the filter, and another line running to the UV then to the falls. BREX

Can I use an 18w bulb in the UVC 9 instead of. 9w bulb...9w is not doing the job
Asked by: Akap
No, you can't. It will not fit and the transformer is not rated for it. 9 watt can do the job if it is the right size for the pond (600-1800 gallon ponds), and you have the right flow rate through it (50% of the pond water once an hour), and the quartz sleeve inside the housing is not covered with algae or mineral deposits. It typically takes 7-10 days for it to clear the pond if you just bought and installed it. BREX

I have a 4000gallon koi pond. I am using a dhp4200 pump feeding a bp4000 filter about 10 feet apart. I am looking to install an external uv 36 watts. is that the right uv and would it get installed between the pump an filter or after the bp4000.
Asked by: tom51
Yes, that would be a good size, although the UVC-18 handles up to 4,400 gallon ponds. And it goes between the pump and filter, about a foot or two from the filter. BREX

The housing is not available separately, unfortunately. You must have one of the older versions, it typically takes 5+ years for the UV rays to wear a hole in the housing. BREX

Which uv lamp for 1200 gallon pond?
Asked by: Livvings
We would recommend the UVC-9 watt UV light for your pond since it is for ponds up to 1800 gallons. You will need a pump that can move about 600 gallons per hour through the light. If your pump is a great deal more powerful, move up a size to the UVC-18 watt instead. BREX

I live in California. The temperatures here get down into the low 30's at it's coldest so my water never freezes. I leave my filters on all year. Do I need to pull the unit when the temperatures drop?
Asked by: Nonno
Yes, you should as freezing could cause the glass internal sleeve to crack, and water to damage the ballast. Also, at those temps you should not get a lot of algae. BREX

What is the minimum flow for the 9 watt unit? Is 900 is max or is that the optimum flow? Also, the unit should not be submerged, but is it safe in the rain? I am running the unit separate from the main filtration which is running higher. pond is 1600 gals
Asked by: Nonno
The flow rate for the 9 watt is up to 1800 gallons per hour. Optimum flow is 800 gph since your pond is 1600 gallons. You want to move 50% of the total pond volume through the light every hour. It's perfectly fine in the rain. BREX

I need a direct (or close) replacement for my TetraPond K20. It's been in use every year for many years and now I'm afraid the seal is broken between the glass tube and the plastic collar. I have UV lights so obviously I'd want a housing that they fit.
Asked by: David Winter
K20 is a lot code. That tells me it is 19 years old! I don't know what size you own, but we have changed the design a couple of times in 19 years. You would need to purchase a new light. Adapters have changed a bit too, so you might want to call 1-800-526-0650 so we can help determine which one you should buy. BREX

My pond is close to 650 Gallons. What is the best combo of UV and pumps from tetra.I am using the floating skimmer and water fall filter. I want to use the UVC-9 and the 1000GPH water pump but am concerned about the flow rate being higher on the pump.
Asked by: Pmh8131
You can use that combination because the UV wattage is higher than what your pond requires, and will compensate for the faster flow rate. Also, the pump will not be pumping exactly 1000 gph, depending on the depth of the pond, distance from the UV and any other application it may be attached to as well. We would recommend installing a ball valve just in case the pond doesn't clear in about 7-10 days. At that point you can restrict the flow rate a bit. BREX
