Not if you have any fish life, etc. The pond has to have been in operation at least three months. Green water is the number one complaint of all pond owners. There are three options for controlling it:
1. using chemicals every week or two throughout the warm part of the year
2. installing a uv light that will kill the suspended algae, but not harm life, and need cleaning once a year, and bulb replacement every 1-2 years
3. balancing the pond with the right mix of plants (at least 75% of the pond planted) to fish (stock it only at about 25% capacity)
If you have a spot you can make a bog filter, this is the absolute best way to balance a pond and keep it healthy. In the meantime, add plants, and use a natural product like Barley and Peat Extract.
