I will email the instruction manual in a moment so you can identify the parts I mention here.
First, check that all of the parts are in the box. Next, check the motor and filter box for any signs of damage from shipping, etc. Fill the box with water and place it in the sink, watching for any drips. Next, install it on the back of the tank at one end or the other. Now take the cartridges out of their plastic wrap and rinse them lightly in cool water just for a couple of seconds. They install in the slots on each side of the filter. Once these are in place, pull out the intake tube and snap on the shorter extension tubes, one at a time. At the bottom snap on the strainer. Install this, impeller first, into the center area of the filter box. Make sure it goes all the way down into the box, nice and snug. Your tank should be filled with water when you get ready to plug in the filter. Once you plug it in, it should become noisy but gradually quiet down as the water moves up the tube. Once it is flowing, place the cover on the top of it. Remember, the filter has to be filled with water prior to starting it up every time.
