Can I buy the cube light? Mine is only a few months old.
It was super bright at first and now with daily use, it is getting really really dim. My parents cube light is doing the same thing as well.
It is not actually sold separately. Make sure the lens cover is clean by using warm water and white vinegar as well as a soft cloth. Call 1-800-526-0650 for warranty help.

Is this safe for fancy guppies? I’m thinking of changing them from their bowl into this tank but I’m not sure if the filter will suck them in.
This kit has a very slow moving filter, operated by an air pump. If it is too powerful, simply insert a flow valve and cut it down some. Should be perfectly fine for guppies. This tank can house up to two as it is only a 1.5 gallon tank.

the motor on the cord is very loud (vibration), is there an alternative filter to this?
Make sure your air flow is not restricted. Cut off any excess tubing you don't need, and check the hole in the bottom of the filter body to make sure it is not blocked. If you are using a flow valve, do not turn it back too much.
This is the only filter system we make for tanks from 1 to 3 gallons, currently.

My LED lights don’t work, where can i get replacement with plug adapter for the 1.5 gallon tank? I need four sets.
Because this is a very small kit, they are not actually sold separately. Your kits do have a one year warranty on them, so please call 1-800-526-0650.

What is the power consumption?
How much power does this unit draw when running continuously? My roommate would like me to be responsible for the extra electricity needed to support my fish, and I need to estimate that.
If you have the motor driven version, it uses 3.0 watts when only the pump is in operation, and 3.5 watts when both the pump and the lights are on.

The filter stopped working
No water is running through it. I think it stopped after a power outtage that happened yesterday but I can't be sure. What do I do? I tried to see if anything was blocking the intake at the bottom, I left the power supply unplugged for a few minutes and then plugged back in, still not working. The light works though. The filter is attached to the tank so I cant remove it to try & work on it. This is the tank I have: http://www.tetra-fish.com/Products/fish-tank-aquarium-kits/desktop-aquarium-fish-tank-kits/1_5-Gallon-Aquarium-Cube.aspx
Thank you for your inquiry. However, there is one more trick we need to try. The motor assembly that is attached to the bottom of the filter housing and is plugged into the light assembly can actually come apart to be cleaned. Inside of the motor is a fan blade called the impeller that is what creates the syphon of water into your filter housing. If the impeller is not moving, the unit sounds completely dead as it is the only moving part for the kit.
Therefore, to clean it out you would need to pull the motor off of the bottom of the filter housing (not completely as it will still be attached to the light unit). On the end opposite of where the power cord connects, there is a cover plate that can be removed by popping it off. Once removed you will see a white fan blade (impeller). This can be pulled out of the motor to be cleaned with white distilled vinegar to make sure that there is no debris clogging it's rotation. This should allow the unit to run properly again.

Is it possible to buy a new power adapter for the 1.5 cube?
We do not sell the adaptors separately, but you may be able to find one that works at Radio Shack or somewhere similar. However, if you call us directly, we can send you one, free of charge. 1-800-526-0650.

Is it possible to buy a new filter for the 1.5 gallon unit?
If you mean the cartridge, yes, it takes the small size, Whisper Bio Bag. If you mean the system, that depends. Our air driven version would be yes. You can replace it with the Whisper 1-3i In Tank Filter. If it is motor driven, with a submersible motor, then no, because it is wired into your lighting.

How big is the tank in length, width, and height?
I just bought a common goldfish from Petco yesterday. His name is Sushi, he's really small. I bought him food and water conditioner so the tap water wouldn't harm him. Right now he's living in a bowl that holds probably less than a gallon. There's nothing inside of it, not even pebbles. But what I want to do is buy him a small tank for him to swim around in a week or two. What I want to know is what the measurements are for this tank so I can display him properly in my house without having the tank look weird and out of place.
We would not recommend a tank less than 5 gallons to start with. Goldfish require 2-3 gallons of water per inch of fish and are rapid growers. They reach sizes of 6-12 inches in length. You may start one in a small tank, but eventually, each goldfish requires 20-50 gallons of water.
The 1.5 gallon tank is 7.5 x 7.5 x 13 inches.

Can we disconnect the old power head from the led light?
We bought a Tetra Whisper 1-3 gallon filter to replace the one that came with the kit. It fits in the place of the original. The led light still works. Is there a way to disconnect the powerhead of the original filter without breaking the circuit to the led?
Thank you for your inquriy. However, this is an integrated kit, and therefore we do not recommend that you disconnect the power cord to the motor for the original filter system as this will stop the electrical flow to the LED lights.

Whisper 1-3 gallon filter not working
bought the 1.5 gallon desktop tank for my son for Xmas, 6 weeks ago. The filter is no longer moving water. I cleaned the impeller area and it spins, but doesn't send water upward.
Pull the impeller out, take a q tip and some vinegar to clean up inside the little area it sits in, and then clean the impeller with vinegar as well. Make sure the water level in the tank is to the spillway of the filter, and the filter cartridge should be a new one. If you continue to have issues, please call our Consumer Relations Team for assistance at 1-800-526-0650.

filter stopped working after 10 hours;
bought a 1.5G LED aquarium Kit for daughter's birthday. after approx 10 hrs of usage, filter started making strange noise and stopped working. can't seem to fix it. what could be wrong? where can i get a replacemnet filter?
If this is the version with a motorized filter, unplug it, pull the bottom portion off, remove the little propeller blade and clean it. Also, use a q tip to clean out the motor.
If it is air driven, make sure water did not back up the airline tubing and into the pump. If the pump is making no noise, call or email us directly. 1-800-526-0650.

Suction Cups for the Filter don't stick
Purchased this unit and love it but the filter came with suction cups to hold to the inside wall. They don't stay and the filter is constantly dropping into the tank. Understand that the new versions being sold are being attached via hooks. Must of bought an old stock at the store. How do I get the new filter version?
I am sorry to hear this is happening! You are correct, there is a newer version with a clip. Just call us directly to get one sent to you. 1-800-526-0650.

Why is my filter bubbling?
I rinsed the filter like it said to and I let it soak for 10 mins and rinsed it again. So I installed it in the tank and plugged it in and now it's bubbling in the back and getting the plug and cord for the light wet and I'm afraid it's gonna short out.
This is generally an air driven filter. Meaning, it is operated by an air pump. We do have another version that is motor driven. However, in either case, a sudden increase or over abundance of bubbles can mean too much protein in the water. It can also mean too much water conditioner if you just added some. I would recommend a small, partial water change of no more than 25% to help reduce the amount of phosphates or water conditioner in the water. This will reduce the bubbling effect too.
Additionally, if you have the motor driven version, you can remove the bottom cover, and take out the impeller, after you have unplugged the filter system.

Can I buy just the adapter for the filter and light without buying anything else with it.
The adapter to my tank went bad after 1 year of use. I know this because I bought a new tank and switched adapters and the new one worked. Now I have an extra tank with no way to power it.
Yes, and no. We do not sell it separately, but if you call or email us directly, we can send one to you. 1-800-526-0650.

The filter doesn't seem to be working properly. The water is turning discolored/dirty after two days..
The water is flowing generously out the spout. In an earlier post it mentions this type of system the water moves slowly. I've tried putting the filter in different ways but there is just one direction to insert it. Help ...
This is called New Tank Syndrome, and it is very common. The water may be cloudy or hazy, especially if you have added more than one very small fish. Just do a small partial water change of about 20% every two or three days until the tank cycles. It may take up to a month to cycle. Make sure you feed only once a day, one piece of food per fish. This tank can only house up to 2 or 3 very small fish, or one betta.

The filter system isn't flowing like I think it should.
THe filter system has water just trickling from the spout. Is it supposed to fall from the spout consistenly?
Yes, it would come over the spout as a very small waterfall, not a lot more than a trickle, as this is a very slow moving filter for very small tanks. The water level in the tank will also affect how full the fall is as well as how rapid it is. The lower the water level in the tank, the less water that would come over the spillway.

Does the filter go inside the tank?
Doe she filter go inside the tank? I have never had a filter that went inside and was a little nervous about electricity and water. In addition, look like a hanger but no suction cups. Do some just come with the plastic clips and no suction cups?
Yes, to both of your questions. It does go into the tank/water. The old version had only suction cups, we upgraded it to have the clip so it would hold better. Suction cups just don't last very long, generally.

Filter not working
How do i go about getting a new filter for my Cube since it is wired with the light?
I have several tanks but this is the only one that has the light and filter wired together.
Make sure to remove the filter, then open the bottom of it, and remove the impeller assembly for cleaning. Usually, this is all that needs to be done to keep it in working order. If this does not get it working again, you would need to provide us a receipt or lot code in order to have your kit exchanged. Please call or email direct.

Condensation on tank lid
I recently purchased your 1.5 Gallon Aquarium Cube for my new betta. I also purchased a small heater, 120V, 10W made by Aqueon for the tank as suggested by the folks at Petco. The tank is in my classroom and since the HVAC is not functional on the weekends, the heater was suggested. It's a lovely tank, very nice and looks great in the classroom. However, there seems to be quite a bit of condensation on the top of the tank and on the sides above the waterline. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to stop this or alleviate? Also ... do betta fish blow lots ob bubbles? Should there be bubbles / foam along the sides of the tank??
Yes, this is normal, and no, you probably cannot alleviate it. You can try experimenting with water levels to see if a certain level makes any difference or not, but with the water evaporating regularly, it would be hard to keep it at the same level all the time.
Yes, they make bubble nests for spawning. You can also get bubbles from too much waste in the tank, so be sure to remove about 1/4 of the water weekly and top it off.

i need to buy a new filter for this tank.
the only one I can find requires another electrical plug and has tubing that comes out of the tank. how can I buy a replacement one that will work with the current plug?
If you bought the version that has the light and filter wired together, remove the bottom of the filter, pull out the impeller (little propeller blade) and clean it. Use a q tip to clean up inside the motor as well. If you have the air pump version, you can use the Whisper 10 air pump in place of the current one. suction cups won't stick to the tank
I have purchased the Tetra 1.5 Gallon desktop aquarium kit and when I was setting it up, I realized that the suction cups on the whisper 3i fliter wouldn't stick to the tank, no matter what I do! I've cleaned the tank and the suction cups, but nothing would make them stick. Can I email you my info and get replacement ones for free?
Yes, of course, no problem! You can try soaking the suction cups in hot water for about 15 minutes first, if you want to. They often have a film on them from the manufacturing process, and the hot water will remove it.

filter buzzing, not filtering.
The whisper filter on the 1.5 gallon aquarium kit I purchased about 4 days ago is not filtering. The motor is buzzing so it does not appear to be off, also the LED light works so there is nothing wrong with the plug. The water just isn't filtering through...
If you have the motor driven version with the pump in the water, remove the bottom half of the filter and pull the impeller out to check for any grit or other debris that could be interfering.
If it is the air driven one with the air pump outside of the tank, make sure there are no kinks in the tubing, and no water has back siphoned into the air pump. A check should have been installed. If so, try operating the pump without it to see if air then comes out as the valve could be faulty.
