Condensation on tank lid
I recently purchased your 1.5 Gallon Aquarium Cube for my new betta. I also purchased a small heater, 120V, 10W made by Aqueon for the tank as suggested by the folks at Petco. The tank is in my classroom and since the HVAC is not functional on the weekends, the heater was suggested. It's a lovely tank, very nice and looks great in the classroom. However, there seems to be quite a bit of condensation on the top of the tank and on the sides above the waterline. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to stop this or alleviate? Also ... do betta fish blow lots ob bubbles? Should there be bubbles / foam along the sides of the tank??
Yes, this is normal, and no, you probably cannot alleviate it. You can try experimenting with water levels to see if a certain level makes any difference or not, but with the water evaporating regularly, it would be hard to keep it at the same level all the time.
Yes, they make bubble nests for spawning. You can also get bubbles from too much waste in the tank, so be sure to remove about 1/4 of the water weekly and top it off.

i need to buy a new filter for this tank.
the only one I can find requires another electrical plug and has tubing that comes out of the tank. how can I buy a replacement one that will work with the current plug?
If you bought the version that has the light and filter wired together, remove the bottom of the filter, pull out the impeller (little propeller blade) and clean it. Use a q tip to clean up inside the motor as well. If you have the air pump version, you can use the Whisper 10 air pump in place of the current one. If you need further assistance, please call us at 1-800-526-0650.

suction cups won't stick to the tank
I have purchased the Tetra 1.5 Gallon desktop aquarium kit and when I was setting it up, I realized that the suction cups on the whisper 3i fliter wouldn't stick to the tank, no matter what I do! I've cleaned the tank and the suction cups, but nothing would make them stick. Can I email you my info and get replacement ones for free?
Yes, of course, no problem! You can try soaking the suction cups in hot water for about 15 minutes first, if you want to. They often have a film on them from the manufacturing process, and the hot water will remove it.

I ordered one of these from Amazon, but when I got it, the cube was cracked and the filter cartridge was missing. Is is possible to get a replacement cube and filter?
The cartridge, yes, the tank, no, as it is not available separately.

housing lid broken
but you dont have it listed. please give me part number so i can buy it
The lid to this tank is not available separately. To sell just the lid would be almost as much as an entire kit after costs such as packaging, stocking, shipping, etc, were calculated.

filter buzzing, not filtering.
The whisper filter on the 1.5 gallon aquarium kit I purchased about 4 days ago is not filtering. The motor is buzzing so it does not appear to be off, also the LED light works so there is nothing wrong with the plug. The water just isn't filtering through...
If you have the motor driven version with the pump in the water, remove the bottom half of the filter and pull the impeller out to check for any grit or other debris that could be interfering.
If it is the air driven one with the air pump outside of the tank, make sure there are no kinks in the tubing, and no water has back siphoned into the air pump. A check should have been installed. If so, try operating the pump without it to see if air then comes out as the valve could be faulty.

Do I need to have a heater for the1.5 Gallon Aquarium Cube with four color fish?
That depends on the room temperature of your house, but most likely, yes. They need to be around 76-78 degrees. It is hard to find a heater small enough for a 1.5 gallon, but you may find a Visi Therm 25 watt by Marineland. That one is ours, but was recently discontinued. Small heaters just do not sell. Otherwise, I recommend the Precision 50 watt by our Marineland line as they are adjustable.

led light is on but there is no water movement. i touch the filtration and dont feel anything. It isn't working
Mine broke too, I ended up cutting the wire to the filter and capping it with electrical tape, and supplementing with a Mini TOM filter that eventually died but I had a mini sponge filter running the whole time with an air pump that I use for biological filtration.

1.5-Gallon-Aquarium-Cube - how do I get the blue filter off?
I have a 1.5-Gallon Aquarium Cube, and it has a blue light filter on the overhead light right now. It also has a red filter and a clear filter in the fold-out drawer below the water tank.
I would like to know how to get the blue filter off to put in another light filter, or to change the light bulb? I am concerned that if I push too hard on the light filter I’ll break something. It's still working right now, but I would like to know how to change the filter.
Thanks for your help!
I believe you pull the tab down to pull it out. The tab of the lens should be facing the rear of the aquarium. Pop it out first and pull down. When installing the new one, face the tab to the rear and snap the lens into place.

Air pump not bubbling anymore, what could be wrong?
I have the LED Aquarium Kit 1.5 Gallon Cube. Have had it for about 3 weeks and I just changed the filer for the first time and now the air pump does not bubble at all. I have checked the connections, the filter, the tubing...plugged it in, unplugged it, re-plugged it in to see if that would work and nothing has changed. I have had my goldfish for about 8 months and I do not want to lose her due to an air pump malfunction. It is the Whisper 3i Filter/Air pump if that helps.
Make sure water did not back siphon back down the tubing and into the pump when you had it turned off. You need to a check valve to prevent this or you have to have the pump above the tank.
Make sure the tubing did not become kinked, or loosen at the end where it attaches to the pump, allowing air to escape.

water flow is slow
I have had this tank for about 8 months and I would say the past month the water flow has been slow. I have changed the filter a couple times and even adjusted the check valve to see if that was the issue. It seems to bubble great up to the point of the filter housing. I have taken the housing off and cleaned it several times but with no luck. The water level is just below the spout and would spill out of it just fine before now it barely comes out. Is there any other things I could check to get the water flowing again?
If you have the air pump version, remove the tubing from the pump, and snip about 1" off of it. The tubing stiffens over time, and will restrict your air flow.
If you have the power driven version with the motor on the bottom of the filter housing, then unplug, the unit, open the bottom of it, and remove the little propeller blade for cleaning.

Need replacement motor
I need a replacement filter motor for the 1.5 gallon Cube aquarium. Can you tell me where I can get one?
There are two versions on the market. If you have the power driven one, that only comes with the kit. Typically, all it needs is to have the impeller removed from the pump, and cleaned to keep it operating.
If you have the air driven one, that is the Whisper 1-3i Filter, and is sold separately through retail fish and pet stores.

Why have my lights stopped working? The filter is still running but recently all the lights have stopped.
My wife bought me this tank for Christmas and i haven't really had any problems with it other than the suction cups not holding after a week. But recently all of the lights have stopped working all at once. I still have power to the filter, but no lights. I can't seem to find anything for a parts list online.
It sounds like the adaptor has died on your light. If you will call or email directly with your name, address and phone number, we can send a replacement to you.

Hi! I have the 1.5 gal Tetra aqua cube for my Betta fish. One problem I've been having lately is that the suction cups that hold the filter holder (which are attached to the holder) inside of the tank don't hold well anymore and the whole thing has been coming off and floating around the tank. I can't make the suction cups stick more than a few days before it falls off again. What can I do? Thanks!
Please email or call us directly and we will send you new suction cups.

Internal Pump provided stopped
Hi, the pump provided in the tank and hardwired into it has stopped working. I have cleaned a couple times. I got it to work once or twice by unplugging it and replugging it. I haven't owned the tank for very long. Can I get a replacement pump or what would you recommend doing?
This particular pump has a tiny impeller you can remove to clean. Pull the bottom cover off of the filter system, remove the impeller, clean it and inside the motor area. This should start it up again. If it does not, please email or call us directly with your full name, address, phone number, and a copy of your receipt.

Do I still need it or can the fish live without it, if not where can I buy one
Just give us a call or email us directly with your name, address, and phone number and we will send one to you.
The fish are fine without the light as long as there is plenty of natural daylight.

The filter that comes with this kit moves the water very slowly -- not enough to produce bubbles at the surface. Is the water being sufficiently oxygenated? I'm sure a beta won't mind, but don't Neon Tetras and other small fish need more oxygen in the water? Is it necessary to add an airstone?
Make sure the water level is right at the bottom edge of the spillway on the filter. Also, if you have had it a while, it may need cleaning, Unplug it, and remove the bottom cover from the motor, pull out the impeller, and clean it, and swab out the motor itself.
This filter should be making a small ripple across the surface, and provides oxygen for most any type of small fish you would keep in this tank.

my fish pump wont turn back on. I cleaned my fish tank then i checked inside the cover for tiny pebbles.
please help. please he is all i have
If you unplugged it, and there was no check valve, and the pump sits beside the tank, it could have pulled water back down into through the airline tubing. If so, the pump will not work again, and you will need a new pump.
If this is not the case, you do have a check valve, or it is sitting above the tank, just email or call us directly and we can troubleshoot for you as well as replace the pump.
In the meantime, pumps are not mandatory, just do a small partial water change of about 1/4 of the water, and put in new water. Feed a little less food than normal as well.

Why did the filter suddenly stop working after a few minutes of plugging it in?
I just put my tank together and I moved the filter a few inches higher and it suddenly stopped working. Can anyone help me with this? or do I need to receive a new one?
We have a couple of versions of this tank, so it kind of depends on whether you have the power driven or the air driven filter. However, most likely something was knocked loose or out of position.

Is the 1.5 gallon tank intended for fish? If so, what kind?
If my 1.5 gallon tank isn't for a tiny goldfish, what is it intended for?
Small tanks like the 1.5 gallon are ideal for a single betta, or 1 or 2 other small fish, such as danios, neon tetras, or platys.

Why did my tiny goldfish die?
I purchased your 1.5 gallon tank, fixed it up and put two small goldfish in it. One died yesterday after gasping at the top. I read your site and it said the water may be too warm to supply them with oxygen. The other tiny goldfish seems okay, but it spends a lot of time at the top. Is it safe to introduce another tiny goldfish. How many fish can a 1.5 gallon tank sustain? I have had goldfish in the past in a 4 gallon tank. They all lived in excess of 10 years, the last one was 16. I don't understand why I am having these problems. Thanks!
The tank is a bit small for goldfish. Goldfish typically require 2-3 gallons of water per inch of body length. The one little guy is letting you know there is a high ammonia issue in his environment, and he needs you to do a partial water change of about 25%.
We would not recommend adding another goldfish.

what accessories come with this?
Is this filter suppose to come with an air pump and tubing?
Depends on which of our 1.5 gallon kits you bought; we make a few versions of it. Most do come with airline tubing and an air pump as well as a led light bubbler. There is a version on the market though, that has a little motor at the base of the filter sleeve and it does not require the tubing or the air pump.
Give us a call if you are missing something. 1-800-526-0650.
