Aquariums are fun, relaxing, rewarding, therapeutic and educational. As manufacturers and fishkeepers ourselves, we take great pride in making top quality products while helping educate our fellow fishkeepers to ensure they are successful, and their fish are healthy and happy. The general rule for tank size is one inch of fish per gallon. However other factors should be considered, such as:
  • How large will the fish be as an adult?
  • Is it species that is active and needs larger space? Or is it a solitary fish?
  • Is it a schooling fish that needs to be in groups of five or more?
  • Is it a fish that produces a lot of waste?
  • Is it a species that is aggressive, does best with others of the same species type, or is it a more peaceful type that would be a good fit in a community tank?
Small aquariums are a great way to get started in the freshwater hobby, and with any new hobby involving living creatures, it is always best to learn as much as you can. And when buying fish, ask your retailer for guidance in choosing the right fish for your size aquarium.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it so much I bought two! Good design and the filer works very well, no issues, betas are happy! Mine have been running for about a year or so now, never had any issues. I bought two for myself and then bought one for my mom for christmas. She put two goldfish in it (not optimal I know!!) and the filter stepped up to the challenge and they got so big and healthy they could hardly turn around. Thankfully they were given a shiny new 10 gallon recently, but it goes to show what a great design this tank is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really love the looks and the size of this tank. It's just right for a couple small fish. This tank is perfect for my little guppies and baby catfish. I love the waterfall effect. At first it seemed a little loud and splashy but was easily fixed by adjusting the splashguard. The bowl is very fragile so it is necessary to be very cautious when cleaning. My bowl accidentally cracked but this company was so helpful and customer friendly that they sent me a new one. Thanks again United Pet Group for such great customer service! I will highly recommend your products to friends and family.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to maintain The tank is excellent for our beta fish. The water sound is very relaxing as we have the tank in our bedroom. Cleaning is very easy, we found the impeller is important to clean as the water volume from the filter slowed down. This was brought to our attention from customer service who was very helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Betta Tank! I'm fairly new to the fish-owning scene, but this tank is awesome! I use it at work for my Betta & I can already tell he is so much happier. I previously used the 1 gallon Hexagon LED/bubble tank, which was fine. But I was looking for something with less wires & pieces & that was easier to clean. I came across this tank in my search & it is way better than I had anticipated. There is nearly double the room than my first tank & the overall look is beautiful. I'm thinking there have been some improvements to the model, because the previously noted complaints about the bowl being too thin doesn't seem the case. This bowl is pretty solid with some weight to it, & I love the fact it is glass (easy to clean). Also, I have not experienced any splash issues with the waterfall; as a matter of fact, I purposefully do not use the waterfall guard so I can hear the water. The LED lights are also a beautiful touch & add a really cool ambience. I did add the heater to this tank, as it seemed to be keeping at a cooler temp than the previous tank. But, the small heater fit great & keeps the water temp where it should be. Overall, a great tank & already several co-workers have said they are going to get one, too!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pretty tank, but too many flaws. I got this aquarium kit for my desk at work, and while it looked nice, it ended up being more trouble than it was worth. The waterfall is noisy and splashes water unless it is filled nearly to the top (not a good thing to do with fish that like to jump, like bettas). If you're going to have it on a desk, keep important documents away and a placemat or something to go underneath might be necessary. That issue is tolerable, and certainly not unique to just this aquarium. The real flaw in this product is the glass bowl. It's crystal clear and looks very nice, but it's incredibly thin, only slightly thicker than most wine glasses, which is probably too fragile for a desktop aquarium. It definitely seems too fragile to have the filter hanging from. Not long after getting it, the bowl cracked down the back, along where the filter snaps on to the bowl, and suddenly there was 1.8 gallons of water all over my office desk and floor. I might consider buying it again if the bowl was made sturdier or from plastic instead of glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best tank for a Betta I bought this tank a while ago, I've had no problem I bought a heater also Tetra brand so the water could be perfect for my Betta. I've put gravel and 2 silk plants and a sunken ship with hiding places, the tank is awesome! To make the water current more soft I put my ship underneath the water current and my Betta is happy with the soft current now. I RECCOMENDED filling the glass globe to the lip but not too much otherwise the back will begin to drip water and spill. I've had a lot of compliments and my mother got one too and she's never been happier with this setup.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice starter aquarium! This globe comes with everything you need except fish and bowl decoration. My husband and I wanted to get a pet, but he's allergic to furry animals, so we decided to get goldfish and this bowl holds two fantails with plenty of room to swim. It could probably comfortably hold four or five! The only cons I'm coming across with it are, first, that I've had to sort of jury rig the waterfall filter contraption to be pushed away from the light arm so that it doesn't splash like crazy and isn't too loud. This may be the fault of our old house, as the floors aren't exactly level, so I'd take this with a grain of salt. It probably won't be a problem for most people. Second, I really wish there was a switch for the filter itself. As it is, once you plug the stand in, the filter is on. If you need to change the water or anything you have to unplug it. We purchased this from a local pet store and when we unpacked it, the wire leading to the filter (which goes in the water) had an exposed bit right at the connection point. Luckily, my husband noticed that or we might have had some fried fish! Check those wires carefully before you put the filter in the water! Other than these few small problems, this globe is great. I love having the constant waterfall sound, and it functions as aeration for the water as well. The LED lights are energy efficient, and there is a switch for them on the top of the housing. If you're looking to just have a few fish and don't have any furry friends who could swipe them out of the top, this might be the perfect aquarium for you!
