Whisper® Internal Aquarium Power Filters

The Tetra Whisper internal aquarium filter is the ultimate in quiet, convenient 3-stage filtration. The dual-sided mesh of the Bio-Bag® catches debris and fish waste while the activated carbon absorbs odors and discoloration. Biological filtration is provided by the Bio-Scrubber. Bio-Scrubber's anti-clog design provides complete biological filtration with the convenience of less maintenance. Because the Bio-Scrubber has a solid back, water is forced to flow evenly over the bacteria-rich bristles. The filter is submersible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from used these for years I just purchased a new one to replace one I had for a number of years. I use the whisper filter in my class aquariums. They are easy to set up and are quiet and easy to change the filters. I have 2 medium and 3 large ones (in various aquariums).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not working!!!! I just bought this 6 days ago. The first couple days it worked like a charm! Water was crystal clear! Then one day I woke up and the water was foamy, cloudy, and there was stuff all over the bottom on the rocks. I cleaned it out. That didn't work. I took the bottom off of it and cleaned that out and still nothing. Pretty disappointed because this was perfect. :(

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible, not what I expected My boyfriend and I invested in this product a few months ago but boy was it a mistake. It was good at first, like the first 2 weeks and after that, a mess. It has to be cleaned so much because it just gets so dirty. It says to replace the filter with the bracket inside every month but it happens more often than that. Another thing is that it's not even silent!! Why is it called Whisper and said to be quiet when it's the loudest thing ever. The filter we had before this one was quieter and we barely liked that one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Awesome! I'm not sure why people are having so many problems. I followed the set up instructions to the t. I have had zero problems! It is completely silent, like I hear nothing! Works great my water is crystal clear and my fish are happy! Perhaps people are buying this product from bad vendors? Either that or the lip of the filter is under or touching the water.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from AVOID There is no suction cups. The product was NOT as advertised. It was loud, buzzy, and could not be used. Awful.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Only works half the time. After two months of use, both of my whisper filters don't work like they should. I clean them regularly and change out the filter as directed but there is little to no water flow out of them right after I clean them or after about a week.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I cannot attach whisper 3i to my tank..... I think that Tetra Whisper filters are amazing products… However the new innovative clip attachment method falls short of the functionality of the simple suction cups. Because of this, The filter I bought is completely and utterly useless, because I cannot attach it to my tank properly. Instead of flowing properly and filtering in my tank it sits there and bubbles because of the angle at which it sits. Thanks Tetra...

I'd like to remove the cover to clean the impeller, but all instructions I see talk about removing 2 screws to remove the bottom cover. Mine doesn't have screws so how can I remove it to clean it thoroughly?

Asked by: Bexx
Depends on which one you own. If it is the 10i, you just pull the bottom half straight down and it separates from the top off. Then pull the impeller out. If you have one of our smaller kits with the original design, then you pull the little motor off of the filter body, press your thumb into the bottom of it, and pull the cover towards the front of the pump, away from the power cord. If you have any problems doing this, please give us a call at 1-800-526-0650.BREX

I brought this product the motor is in the inside of my tank but the thing i. Afraid of is the power cord is inside the water is that safe. Because the cord will get hot.

Asked by: Trisha124
It is UL rated for use inside the aquarium. The cord will not have a problem being in the water, and will not get hot.BREX

Which way does the bio-bag disposable filter face? Does the water run through the charcoal side or the white side first?

Asked by: housewren
Depending on which size filter you own, it should be the colored side towards the tank, with the white side towards the back of the filter. If you have a solid white bio bag, it doesn't matter.BREX

I purchased the 1.5 floating starter kit for my Betta. The filter has tons if bubbles that come out of the top and actually lift the lid off. It makes everything wet. Is there a way to fix this? May have to return if not. Need non air driven filter mayb

Asked by: IlyV
This is normal when you first set up the tank. It occurs for a couple of reasons. One is that the filter has a break in period, and the air pump will settle down in a day or so. The second reason is the amount of phosphates in the water that you used and/or the amount of water conditioner you used to treat it with when you set the tank up. If it does not settle down in 2-3 days, give us a call at 1-800-526-0650.If it is making things wet outside the tank, lower the filter so the top is approximately 1.5" below the top of the tank. Also, the water level should be right at the filter spillway. This may help reduce some splashing as well.BREX

How does the pump and filter work to keep the water clear and clean

Asked by: drummondbobby
The impeller spins inside the motor, creating a siphon or vortex, essentially to pull water into it, and up through the filter body. Once in the filter body it pushes through the outer fiber of the cartridge, where debris is collected, and through the carbon, which removes metals, odors, discolorations, medications, etc, and then through more fiber and back out. Moving water creates oxygen just because of the motion itself.BREX

I have a 3 gallon round tank that I use the small Whisper Filter. I was going to buy a new unit, but notice it no longer use suction cups but a hook over. This won't work on my tank. What do I do when mine goes out?

Asked by: TikiBetta
Just give us a call for suction cups, 1-800-526-0650. We still have them and will be adding them to the kit, going forward, along with the clip.BREX
