Generally speaking, aquarium fish only become trapped by a filter when they are extremely sick or even already dead. In such a case, they are often unable to escape the otherwise mild pull of the filter, resulting in the appearance that they were trapped by the filter. Please be assured that this is almost certainly the case with the filter that was included in the GloFish kit that you purchased, as it is not strong enough to capture a healthy, or even somewhat healthy, fish.
While we realize that your fish may have seemed healthy, fish can unfortunately become sick very quickly, particularly in a new tank where the bacterial colonies are not yet established and able to reduce potentially dangerous ammonia levels. This problem is often referred to as “new tank syndrome”. You can read more about this on our website. In the meantime, we recommend testing the water for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate to see where the tank stands with cycling. If the levels are not safe, change the water and start again. This time, be sure to add SafeStart Plus along with AquaSafe Plus. SafeStart will "seed" the tank with the beneficial bacteria you need in order to cycle quickly and safely.
