Aquariums are fun, relaxing, rewarding, therapeutic and educational. As manufacturers and fishkeepers ourselves, we take great pride in making top quality products while helping educate our fellow fishkeepers to ensure they are successful, and their fish are healthy and happy. The general rule for tank size is one inch of fish per gallon. However other factors should be considered, such as:
  • How large will the fish be as an adult?
  • Is it species that is active and needs larger space? Or is it a solitary fish?
  • Is it a schooling fish that needs to be in groups of five or more?
  • Is it a fish that produces a lot of waste?
  • Is it a species that is aggressive, does best with others of the same species type, or is it a more peaceful type that would be a good fit in a community tank?
Small aquariums are a great way to get started in the freshwater hobby, and with any new hobby involving living creatures, it is always best to learn as much as you can. And when buying fish, ask your retailer for guidance in choosing the right fish for your size aquarium.
This product comes in the following sizes: 3 gallon (13" x 7" x 9.5") and 5 gallon (15.5" x 9" x 11.5")

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kinda small I bought the 3 gallon glofish starter kit for my son birthday last month and everything seems ok, wish I realized the size beforehand because 3 gallon gives little space for decor but my problem I'm having is the oxygen. I'm seeing alot of other tanks with these bubbles and whatnot and thinking my whisper filter needs more flow to it. The water is so still the fish seem unhappy the stuck to back of tank and is it common for the starlight tetra color to weaken some or appear whitish over time? I don't know I need some advice please

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaking After A Month Purchased a 5 gallon tank set for my daughter. It hasn't been all but maybe a month and the tank is leaking from the bottom somewhere. For what was paid for the set I think it should be more reliable and better quality and craftsmanship. Looks like I'll have to go spend more money to replace the $50 glofish tank. What a shame.....

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Where do the fish go? I bought my tank a few weeks ago. Now that I have decided to add more fish, I've learned that even one fish needs more than 3 gallons to swim in. Now it's a waste because I'm stuck with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad design/bad customer service I bought this tank and we have enjoyed it and my son loves it. The issue I have is the light. Due to the way it attaches it has to be removed if you need to add or take anything out. (Most of the time) we noticed though that the way the light attaches it has cracked our tank. Now I worry if it will crack more and start leaking. I wrote costumer service and I didn't get any reply at all!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pretty, but apparently not useful. When I went to pet smart, and asked them how many glofish could fit into this aquarium, they said 0. I went to a different store, thinking that they were lying, and asked the other store, they said the same thing. This was a huge disappointment for me considering I thought the tank was beautiful and would fit my fish well. I don't get why they designed a product for a fish that can't live in it. Will probably put a beta in this tank.
