They live in a 600 gallon outdoor pond. I've had them for 3 months and they have been eating the flakes so far.
They could eat them, but they are not the proper nutrition as this food is for carnivorous fish, not omnivores. Goldfish and shubunkins are large vegetation grazers, although they will also eat insects, crustaceans, small fish, etc, whatever is available. Their main protein source is from vegetation though, not meat.
