No, we sure don't. I would recommend, depending on the types and sizes of the fish, 1-2 blocks every week. Highly recommend you have a friend, relative, neighbor or preferably a petsitter visit at least once a week. Anything can, and will happen while you are on vacation. The tank will at least need topping off weekly, and preferably a 25% water change at least every couple of weeks. If your power goes out at some point, say, due to a storm, and cannot re-prime because it is dirty or the water level is low, the fish will not have a filter at all, and you can burn the filter up and lose the fish. Always have someone come in at least once a week to check the tank, if you will be gone for an extended period of time.
If you prefer to not use blocks, simply buy those pill cases that are marked for each day of the week, and put food in each day you want the fish fed, and have someone come in on those days only. This keeps the tank monitored, and prevents over feeding.
