Just got larger 3 gallon tank for daughters betta, cycled tank. Do you have to use both betta safe & the aqua in the new tank? Fish is ok but seems not as happy as when in small tank.
Thank you for your inquiry. However, when you are adding new water to the tank use either the BettaSafe or the AquaSafe. Predominately, they are the same product with special additives to help with specific fish types and stress levels so you would only want to use one or the other to dechlorinate the water.

I've been testing my water and noticed a drop in Nitrates after using this product. I used twice the recommended dose. The Nitrates were cut in half. Can you explain this?
Thank you for your question. However, we have a feeling that the drop in Nitrates is actually from the water changes that you are performing with fresh water.

Hi,I have goldfish in a 10 gallon tank, is it ok if I put water conditioner for bettas inside even if I have a filter?
Yes, the water conditioner will not harm the goldfish, and is necessary to remove chlorine and chloramines, which your filter cannot remove.

Does Bettasafe detoxify ammonia? I just wanted to be sure because it doesn't say so on the bottle label.
No, it removes chlorine, chloramines, and heavy metals. AmmoniaSafe is a chemical that will detoxify ammonia, and SafeStart Plus is the beneficial bacteria that remove it.

I put 2 drops in 4 cups of water. Is this correct? I left the water with Bettasafe in it out overnight, and now the stones I put in the bottom of the bowl have (clear) bubbles on them, but no bubbles on the bowl or top of the water.
The dosage is typically 8 drops per one gallon of water. The amount you dosed is fine, however, and didn't cause the bubbles to form. The bubbles formed due to a gaseous reaction occurring because of the difference in temperature between the water and the surface on which you found the bubbles. By the way, bettas require 2-5 gallons of water that is heated to a warm 78-84 degrees Fahrenheit. I assume the 4 cups of water was a partial water change of a small tank, and not a tiny bowl. You do not need to treat over night either, as the product works within 2-3 minutes.

My husband purchased BettaSafe water conditioner instead of chlorine out is it safe to use with cichlids?
Yes, it is safe for all fish and will de-chlorinate the water as well as take out chloramines, and heavy metals, like any other water conditioner.

Do I need to let the water sit after I condition it? If so, for how long?
Not necessarily, no. The BettaSafe will condition it almost immediately - within 2-3 minutes.

You answered people's questions about how long until you can safely return the fish to the water; 2-3 minutes. Yet on another question, you said it was safe to put it on the wayer while the fish were in there. Which is it? Please advise.
In tanks that are brand new and all of the water is having to be treated, you need to wait a few minutes, 2-3 will typically suffice, for it to fully condition the water. Once a tank is established, and you are doing a partial water change, there is no need to ever remove the fish, you just dose the AquaSafe Plus either directly into the tank or mix your new water up and dose it outside the tank, whichever way is easier for you to do. Typically, if you are changing a large quantity of water for an emergency reason, such as accidental overdosing or overfeeding, you should mix the water up outside the tank in a bucket used for tank purposes only, wait 2-3 minutes, then pour the new water into the tank.

Presentations of how many liters ?
5 ml or one teaspoon treats 10 gallons or 37.85 liters. There are 10 such treatments per bottle so the entire bottle treats 378 liters, if my math is correct.

Can you put too much in the water? I have a 10 gallon tank and accidentally put in 2.5 capfuls. Will that hurt the fish?
Thank you for your question. No, that will not harm the fish. You can safely overdose this product by 2-3 times the recommended dosage. The only issue you may observe is a foaming on the water surface. If this occurs, you can take a gallon of water out and put in some fresh water, without any more water conditioner. Bottled natural spring water works well for this.

Role of BettaSafe and Tetra's other water conditioners
Can you suggest a regimen for Tetra's water conditioning products for a 5.5 gallon tank with one betta and easily maintained live plants (anubias, java fern, etc.)? What water conditioner(s) should be used to establish a new tank, and what should be used to maintain it? I already have BettaSafe, but nothing else yet. Thanks!
BettaSafe or AquaSafe Plus would be the main conditioners we would recommend for your weekly water changes. They can also be used when a fish is ill or injured, or you are adding new fish to the tank. To establish the tank, we would recommend Safe Start Plus. This is just cultured bacteria. Other than these items, as long as you are doing a good job of maintaining the tank, you should not need a lot of chemicals.

I have a betta in a 1/2 gallon tank and I've never used bettasafe. I don't know how to do any of this. I normally get the betta water bottles and use them but I can't find them anymore. I don't want to kill this poor betta. Please help. Do I need anything else and how many drops do I need? It's in a simple tank that's from Walmart. No motor or filters. Cost me like less than $10
We would recommend that you use 6 drops per gallon. Therefore, you would only want to use the chemical for the amount of water that you are adding to the tank. We would recommend that you put the BettaSafe in another 1 gallon container of water and let it sit for about 5 minutes before adding the amount that you need to the tank.

BettaSafe Water Conditioner for Betta Fish
It says this product is an all-in-one. Can I use this to replace AquaSafe, SafeStart and Easy Balance in a 3 gallon tank with one betta? I haven't put the fish in the tank yet and I'm wondering if it's enough to just put this product in the water and then put in the betta? Thank you.
It would replace Aquasafe, but not Safestart or Easy Balance. It removes chlorine, chloramines, and heavy metals. I would use it to start the tank, then a few hours after you put the betta in, add Safe Start Plus.

Do I need to use aquarium salt as well as BettaSafe? A petshop employee told me so, but I thought I would ask you first.
Good morning! BettaSafe is a water dechlorinator, which removes harmful chlorine from the water source that you are using to fill the aquarium. However, salt is typically used to help calm the fish and helps reduce stress. Salt can help with some medical remedies as well, but it is not something that you want to continuously add to a freshwater aquarium typically.

Use in saltwater reef tanks.
I have a 6.5 nano reef saltwater tank. Is it safe to use for the purpose of declorinating tap water before I add the salt?
Yes, it is safe, however, it does have some ingredients that may make a skimmer foam more, if you happen to have a small skimmer going. Otherwise, it's fine.

How long do I have to wait to put my fish in the tank after using betta safe?
1/2 gallon tank using city water fully changes water week and a half. He poops alot so I have to change it alot
He doesn't make a lot of waste, his tank is just too small for him. Bettas should be housed in a 2-5 gallon tank. In this small of a container, half the water should be changed every 1-2 days.
Betta Safe works in 1-3 minutes.

should you use bettasafe water conditioner when adding new tap water to a tank? can you add it in the tank with the fish after adding the new water?
I have a 20 gallon tank with three male guppies, the water is dipping below 70 but first I need to add water to the tank before I turn on the heater, im just not sure what to do or how to do it.
Yes!! Always use something to make the water safe for fish. Add it to the water, then to the tank. I don't know what you mean by below 70. I can't help with that question.

how often are Bettasafe drops added to 1.5 gallon Betta tank?
just got for xmas and trying to learn how to balance correctly.
You should do a 10% water change weekly with that product included to make the water stable and safe.

Do I need to install a heater in my betta aquarium ?
my aquarium is 3 gallons
You only need to add a heater if your betta's tank is cold. They don't do well in higher temps. I believe the highest temp they should be in is 83-85 degrees max!!

safe for all fish/tanks?
I started with a betta bowl but quickly upsized to a ten gallon. Can I use this still? Only add eniugh to treat new water added during water changes? Thanks to my pooping machines (yellow elephant snail and clown pleco) I'm doing more frequent water changes.
10 gallon tank with one male betta, 3 cory catfish (1 schwarzt and two elegant), 3 bloodfin tetras, snail, and clown pleco
Yes, it is safe for all fish. And yes, you only add to the water you are changing. You do not need to add for the entire amount of tank unless your fish are sick.
