Using Whisper® filtration technology, the ReptoFilter® provides quality three-stage filtration, removing debris, discoloration, odors and ammonia from terrariums.
The design allows for operation in shallow-water environments, making it ideal for creating waterfalls. A top lid keeps reptiles out of the filter chamber while providing easy access for replacing medium ReptoFilter filter cartridges.

Keeps getting stuck
I got this for my salamanders and it works great... until it doesn't! The electromagnet that turns the propeller keeps sticking and it's a pain to take it out of my tank and unstuck it. To top it off, you need to place rocks or a little fish net around it or it'll suck up a salamander's delicate little fins, limbs, or tail. I also had to place a rock in front of it to diver the filtered water away from getting immediately recirculated which otherwise would make the rest of the water in my 5 gallon tank go stale. Definitely needs work but as far as I know, there's no other filter as cheap and as small as this one so it'll have to do for now.

Works GREAT!!!
I have had this filter for about 6 months for my 1 aquatic turtle. I have never had an issue with it. It starts right up and is very quite. I love that it excepts the tetra/whisper filter cartridges. Very quick and easy to change filters. Love this style of filter as well, if the power goes up in your home, since this sits in the water it will not run dry when the power comes back on. LOVE IT!!!!

When looking for a filter setup, choose something
So like all the other reviews need to change filters often, like weekly. Works great....for about 4 days. Can not clean bottom half. And if that's not bad enough I have yet to purchase the filters and have all three filters with charcoal. This last purchase only ONE of the three had charcoal! When looking for a good filter, choose something else!

Very Disappointing
I was able to "use" this less than a week. It seems to be very finicky and will work and then won't. It is very frustrating to keep having to take it in and out trying to get it to work!

Horrible.
I would not recommend this at all. Very poor filter. No power and impossible to clean. Comes with no instructions on how to take it apart to clean. Found replacing filters for this thing was once a week. Says up to 20 gallons. My open 5 gallons. Supposed to made for turtles? not.

Horrible product
I bought this product on June 1st and have had to replace it 3 times due to having it completely stop working. I read the other reviews on here and there are several stating the same issue. I see that the company has responded to remove the bottom portion and clean, but the manual makes no reference of this nor how to even remove the bottom portion. It's a cheaply made product and I will be asking for a full refund this time vs an exchange. I'm angry that I've had to go to the pet store this many times due to a bad product. Do not waste your time or money on this!!!!!!

Bad Quality
I brought a reptile tank for my two turtles and I though that this pump would work. Well, I was sadly mistaken, I only had my turtles for a week and I had to replace the water due to the quality of the pump. It just isn't a good quality product.

I have been remodeling my frogs’ tank and the filter has been sitting dry for about two weeks. I soaked it overnight and when I plugged it in it will not turn on. My water level is about 4” and the outlet works fine. Any suggestions?
Asked by: Isabelle
Remove the bottom half, take out the impeller, and clean it, as well as inside the motor. It probably has algae hard water deposits or some other "gunk" causing it to not spin. BREX

I set up a ReptoFilter, 125 gph, yesterday. I cleaned everything and let the filter run for hours. Added the turtle who upset his food later. I cleaned the food but the water is still cloudy after 12 hours. What to do?
Asked by: JillEBean
Wait it out or do a partial water change of about 25%. Since the water is all new, it is trying to build up a biological filter. This is typically more critical with fish than turtles, it is just unsightly for turtle owners. Turtles require at least 10 gallons of water per inch of shell diameter and weekly 50% water changes, even as hatchlings because they are so messy. I'm not sure what you meant by he upset his food, but it is best to just drop approximately one food stick per inch of shell diameter into the water and make sure he eats it all within 1-2 minutes. Don't place a dish of food in the tank as he will constantly knock it over. BREX

Hi. I have the 90gph filter for our leopard frog. It is in a 10 gallon tank with 2-3 gallons of water. The filter seems to be pulling the water through it but will not keep the water clean longer than 2 days even with a filter change and complete water ch
Asked by: TM19
Stop doing a complete change. Change about 50% of the water every couple of days and let the tank become balanced, and the biological filter to form. So if you have 3 gallons, take out 1.5 gallons every couple of days, and beneficial bacteria will eventually clear the tank up for you. Also, be sure to not overfeed or leave any uneaten food in the tank. BREX

Can the bottom portion be taken apart to clean?
Asked by: PChel
Yes, the pump does come apart to clean, and the bottom cover is what you remove. It makes a L shape though, crossing the bottom then the front of the pump. BREX

I have cleaned out the bottom portion of the device and the pump spins but is not moving water up through...any other suggestions?
Asked by: RedEarSlider
Make sure you remove the impeller from the motor to clean it. Swab out the inside of the motor while you have the impeller out. Also, on the back side of the motor (or bottom of it, if you will) there is a cover that pops off, and gunk can get caught up in that area as well. We will email instructions to you on opening the filter. BREX

I am unable to find a replacement for the black carbon filter and the plastic unit that holds it for Product No. 25844. Where can I get one?
Asked by: TurtleOwnerHouston2018
Your filter takes the Medium Size Bio Bag. We sell this in the aquarium and the reptile hobbies. http://www.tetra-fish.com/products/replacement-filter-media/whisper-bio-bag-replacement-cartridge-unassembled.aspx. They are sold through local fish stores, Petsmart, Petco, Walmart, etc. BREX
